Japanese automaker Honda Motor Co. said it is recalling 1.3 million vehicles worldwide to fix faulty rearview cameras, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.
Honda said the recall will include 1.2 million vehicles in the United States, 88,000 in Canada and 16,000 in Mexico.
The vehicles being repaired include certain 2018-2023 Odyssey, 2019-2022 Pilot and 2019-2023 Passport vehicles with a faulty cable connector on the same communication shaft that may cause the rearview camera image to not appear on the screen.
Honda previously extended the warranty for vehicles affected by the issue into 2021. In a filing with NHTSA, the automaker said it received 273,870 warranty claims related to the issue from May 2017 to June of this year, and there were no reports of related injuries or deaths.
