General Oleksandr Syrskyi, a senior Ukrainian military commander, said on November 11 that Russia is mobilizing tens of thousands of troops in the border region in an attempt to dislodge Kyiv's forces from the territory they control in the Kursk province.

General Syrskyi made the statement a day after Moscow amassed a force of 50,000 troops in the border region with Ukraine in preparation for an attack.
"Russian forces are trying to push back our troops and advance deeper into territory controlled by Ukraine," Syrskyi said in a post on the Telegram app.
However, the general did not mention the presence of North Korean troops, while Western countries, South Korea, and Ukraine all assert that Pyongyang has sent soldiers to Russia.
According to statistics from the Russian Ministry of Defense , since fighting broke out in Kursk, Ukraine has lost more than 30,800 troops, 189 tanks, 123 infantry fighting vehicles, 107 armored personnel carriers, 1,095 armored fighting vehicles, 833 motorized vehicles, and 262 artillery systems.
Earlier, on August 6, Kyiv launched a major offensive in Russia's Kursk region, bordering Ukraine, despite its severe shortage of manpower and weapons.
The attack was aimed at forcing Moscow to withdraw its military resources from eastern Ukraine and helping Kyiv improve its negotiating position in the future.
