Today, September 2, exactly 78 years ago, was the birth day of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
At Ba Dinh Square that year, at the end of the Declaration of Independence, President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: “Vietnam has the right to enjoy freedom and independence, and in fact has become a free and independent country. The entire Vietnamese people are determined to devote all their spirit and strength, their lives and property to maintain that freedom and independence.”
78 years, through many historical events, the Vietnamese people have proven that the spirit of the Declaration of Independence continues to be built and nurtured.
The statement of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, also affirmed in the documents of the 13th National Party Congress: “Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position and international prestige as today. This is the pride, the driving force, the important resource, the belief for our entire Party, people and army to overcome all difficulties and challenges, continue to firmly step on the path of comprehensive and synchronous innovation; develop the country quickly and sustainably”. (Excerpt from Documents of the 13th National Congress of Delegates, Volume I, National Political Publishing House, Hanoi 2021, p. 104.).
With such a foundation, potential, position and prestige, in addition to promoting endogenous strength and the spirit of great national solidarity, Vietnam has increasingly built its position and prestige in international relations.
On the occasion of the 78th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on August 31, President Vo Van Thuong delivered an important speech, emphasizing: “Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge for cooperation and dialogue, strengthen multilateralism, promote peaceful settlement of disputes through dialogue on the basis of the United Nations Charter and international law; will always be a sincere and loyal friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community.”
The above assertion has also been proven in practice in the political and diplomatic fields, such as the recent visits of Party and State leaders to many countries or the visits and work of many heads of state in Vietnam, which have left many very good impressions.
In the economic field, large Vietnamese corporations have made a name for themselves in the international market, and “made in Vietnam” products have reached demanding markets. At the same time, foreign investment capital is increasing strongly in Vietnam in both quality and quantity.
The country's foundation is increasingly strong and stable, creating a new style, a new position, a new strength for Vietnam to reach new heights, with enough strength and intelligence to stand shoulder to shoulder with friends in the world. We believe that the country's foundation will become increasingly stronger and brighter with the noble goal: a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization, and steady progress towards socialism.
