According to the Department of Industry and Trade's leadership, while the first six months of the year were not as heavily impacted by the pandemic as the previous year, the complex and unpredictable developments in the global economy, including high inflation, rising interest rates, tightening monetary policy, and significant fluctuations in fuel and input material prices, have affected many industries and business sectors. To maintain growth and achieve the set targets, the Department of Industry and Trade advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue an Action Plan for implementing the import-export strategy in Ninh Thuan province until 2030. Simultaneously, it implemented various activities and disseminated information about trade promotion programs abroad to businesses, encouraging their participation. As a result, six units/businesses participated in the India-South Central Provinces Cooperation Promotion Conference in Khanh Hoa province; and 10 businesses received support to connect with suppliers in the Central and Central Highlands regions and export businesses in Da Nang. In addition, the plan involves encouraging potential export businesses to participate in online trade promotion meetings with the system of Vietnamese trade offices abroad. Continuing the implementation of Plan No. 829/KH-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee on the Program for Economic and Social Recovery and Development, the Industry and Trade sector focuses on supporting businesses and rural industrial production facilities in applying machinery and equipment in production to increase productivity and product competitiveness in the market. Accordingly, 11 units and businesses received support for the application of advanced machinery and equipment in production with a total amount of over 2.5 billion VND, belonging to sectors such as: agricultural product processing and consumer product manufacturing.

In addition, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion actively supports businesses in selling agricultural products and promoting them through various forms such as: trade connections, organizing meetings for businesses, participating in product exhibitions, connecting supply and demand, and creating a favorable environment for the development of OCOP products and unique products of the province. By the end of June, 26 units had participated in trade promotion conferences; and 31 businesses from the province had met and connected with major distributors in Ho Chi Minh City.
With the synchronized implementation of various solutions, trade activities in the first six months of 2023 continued to recover strongly and increase significantly. Total retail sales of goods and consumer spending in the first six months reached over 18,757 billion VND, an increase of 18% compared to the same period last year, reaching 58% of the target; export value is estimated at 43.8 million USD, reaching 29.2% of the set plan. Notably, in the first six months, one new product, stuffed toys, was exported to markets such as the UK, the US, and Australia, with an estimated export value of 1.7 million USD. Businesses, shopping centers, supermarket chains, and other businesses proactively prepared abundant, diverse, and varied goods to serve the consumer needs of the people. Essential goods and prices remained stable, and purchasing power in the market continued its growth trend.
In the last six months of the year, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to coordinate with localities to encourage and create favorable conditions for businesses to develop their distribution and retail networks; focusing on developing service industries in the direction of improving service quality and competitiveness, ensuring the best possible service to meet the needs for goods and services for production as well as people's lives. It will continue to implement trade promotion programs for the province's unique agricultural products and OCOP products, linked with the "Bringing Vietnamese Goods to Rural Areas" program, in response to the "Vietnamese People Prioritize Using Vietnamese Goods" campaign; and effectively cooperate and link with other provinces and cities, and regional linkages to support businesses in promoting brands, introducing products, and finding customers both domestically and internationally. Implement digital transformation in trade promotion activities, focusing on coordinating with specialized departments of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to build a digital trade promotion ecosystem. This ecosystem will serve as a database for trade promotion, advertising, and connecting product consumption nationwide through digital platforms. Strengthen market management and promptly and strictly handle acts of selling counterfeit and substandard goods and commercial fraud, contributing to ensuring a healthy market development and protecting the legitimate rights of producers and consumers.
