A Quinnipiac University survey of 1,776 Americans, conducted from June 15-19, indicates that many Americans believe the federal charges against former President Donald Trump are politically motivated.
Two-thirds of those surveyed (equivalent to 62%) believe the lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice is politically motivated, and 34% said the federal charges against Trump are related to legal regulations.
Ninety-one percent of Republicans, 28% of Democrats, and 65% of independent voters believe the lawsuit is politically motivated. Meanwhile, 64% of men and 59% of women surveyed believe the lawsuit is heavily partisan and politically motivated.
Regarding future developments, 51% support prosecuting Trump criminally in connection with the unauthorized possession of classified documents after leaving the White House.
According to Reuters , court documents released on June 20 show that federal judge Aileen Cannon in Florida ruled that August 14 is the start date for the trial of former President Trump in a case related to his handling of classified documents.
However, experts believe the trial will not begin so soon, as time is needed to resolve complex legal issues before the jury can hear testimony and present evidence.
