52 blood donations

That is the impressive number that Ms. Dinh Thanh Ngoc Dung, born in 1986 in Ngoc Dong area (old Thuc Luyen commune) now belongs to the new Thanh Son commune, has participated in voluntary blood donation. Ms. Dung shared: In 2010, the first time I participated in voluntary blood donation while participating in the training of the commune's militia and self-defense force, it was the occasion when the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the Provincial Red Cross Association jointly organized the Voluntary Blood Donation Festival, so I participated right away. At first, I was still confused, worried and scared, but when I donated, I felt very light, it did not affect my health... From then on, I actively participated more and more and I also joined the provincial reserve blood bank club and donated platelets.

Up to now, she has participated in voluntary blood donation 52 times in the locality as well as many times directly donating blood when there are emergency patients in need of blood at hospitals and medical centers. In addition, Ms. Dung is also an active propagandist, regularly mobilizing people, friends, family... to participate. When asked about the work of mobilizing humanitarian blood donation, Ms. Dung shared: At first, when mobilized, many people were worried and afraid, at that time I shared about the purpose and meaning of donating blood to save people and my direct participation in blood donation, thanks to that, people understood, supported, and gradually actively participated...

With these achievements, in 2023, Ms. Dinh Thanh Ngoc Dung was commended by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for her outstanding achievements in promoting voluntary blood donation. In 2025, Ms. Dung was awarded a certificate of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and participated in the National Ceremony to honor outstanding voluntary blood donors.

Preschool teacher actively spreads blood donation movement

Not only enthusiastic and dedicated to her profession, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Thuy - a teacher at Trung Vuong Kindergarten (formerly Trung Vuong Commune), now in Viet Tri Ward, also actively shares and spreads love to the community through noble acts. 41 times donating blood and platelets - that's the number of times Ms. Thuy has participated.

Talking about the opportunity to donate blood, Ms. Thuy shared: When I was a student, I was also encouraged to donate blood, but because of fear, I did not participate. In 2014, when I worked at Trung Vuong Kindergarten, I registered for the first time. Although I was still worried, when the results showed that my health was guaranteed, there was no impact, and my spirit was good, I continued to register for the next blood donations. In 2016, I joined the provincial reserve blood bank club and donated platelets. Because I have the common blood type A, large blood vessels, easy to collect, good health, and the advantage of living near the provincial hospital, every time there was an emergency case requiring blood transfusion, the hospital called me to be ready to go to the hospital to help, sometimes the transfusion was not finished until 9 or 10 pm... Ms. Thuy happily shared more.

As a direct blood donor and an active propagandist, mobilizing people to participate, Ms. Thuy is one of the typical examples in the voluntary blood donation movement of the province, receiving many Certificates of Merit, including the Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Blood Donor in 2024. In 2025, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Thuy was honored to receive the Medal for Humanitarian Cause from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.

Ready to give

With the thought of “a drop of blood given, a life left behind”, Mr. Bui Hong Son – currently Deputy Director of Dong Luong New Commune Career Service Center has participated in voluntary blood donation 24 times.

Having donated blood to save lives since 2013, Anh Son shared: The first time I donated blood, I didn't think much about it, I was worried but curious. However, it was from that first time that I changed my perception of how important it is to donate blood to save lives. From that thought, I always kept in mind "a drop of blood given, a life saved" and just like that, I have donated blood for many years...

According to Mr. Son, the important thing for voluntary blood donation to become a regular activity requires great sympathy, sharing, and a sense of responsibility from each individual to society and the country. Helping others also brings many priceless gifts: Love - joy - health. Doing that becomes a habit, a voluntary action because every year when he is healthy enough, he will donate blood 3-4 times.

Not only actively participating in donating blood to save lives, regardless of his position or work unit, Mr. Son also actively encouraged his colleagues, relatives and friends to donate blood. With these achievements, Mr. Son was able to attend the National Outstanding Voluntary Blood Donor Honor Ceremony in 2025.

Ms. Dung, Mr. Son and Ms. Thuy are shining examples in the blood donation movement in their units and localities. Not only donating blood, they are also "long arms" to propagate and mobilize relatives, friends and colleagues to participate in blood donation, contributing to making the voluntary blood donation movement a cultural feature with profound humanistic meaning of the Vietnamese people.
