Officials and workers of Can Tho City Power Company distributed leaflets and instructed residents in Con Khuong, Ninh Kieu ward, on safe and economical electricity usage.
To effectively fulfill its role in supplying electricity to over 420,000 customers, in the first months of 2025, Can Tho City Power Company focused on investing in upgrading, renovating, and constructing many new power grid projects in the city. As a result, several key projects such as the Cai Rang 110kV substation and connecting power lines, and the 22kV power line connecting to the Binh Thuy 110kV substation, have been put into operation, contributing to improved electricity supply quality, serving the lives of the people, and promoting socio -economic development in the localities.
Along with investment and construction work, Can Tho City Power Company has directed its subordinate power companies to regularly inspect the 110kV power lines and substations, as well as distribution substations, to detect and prevent localized overload incidents early; strengthen inspection and timely handling of defects on the power grid; clear vegetation to ensure safety along power line corridors; effectively implement priority power supply plans, ensuring safe and stable power supply to locations hosting important events in the city; and at the same time ensure the efficient and reliable supply of electricity to serve the production, business, and consumption needs of more than 420,000 electricity customers in the city.
Alongside investment and construction activities, Can Tho City Power Company has coordinated with city departments and agencies to promote the dissemination of policies and legal regulations on energy saving and efficiency; and to strengthen the implementation of Prime Minister 's Directive 20/CT-TTg on strengthening electricity saving in the period 2023-2025 and subsequent years. Mr. Huynh Huu Ky, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Power Company, said: Identifying industrial production enterprises and households as the two largest electricity consumer groups, accounting for over 86% of the total electricity consumption of the entire city, Can Tho City Power Company has been focusing on promoting safe, economical, and efficient electricity use among these two customer groups. Accordingly, the power sector regularly informs businesses and production facilities in the city about the electricity supply situation; Simultaneously, businesses with electricity consumption of 1 million kWh/year or more are encouraged to participate in the Demand Response (DR) program and load shifting… contributing to the electricity sector's efforts to reduce grid overload during peak hours. In addition, Can Tho City Power Company actively promotes electricity saving measures to households through the electricity sector's websites and social media platforms (Facebook, Zalo); and distributes leaflets and brochures containing electricity saving information to residents and businesses in residential areas and traditional markets throughout the city.
To spread the message of safe and economical electricity use throughout the community, the electricity sector is also striving to promote communication and encourage electricity customers to install the "CSKH EVNSPC" app from the App Store (for iOS) and CH Play (for Android) on their smart mobile devices to directly monitor and look up information about the electricity services available from the sector... Through these channels, the electricity sector can easily update information and guide customers to practice safe and economical electricity use, such as turning off electrical devices when not in use; prioritizing the use of electrical appliances with 5-star energy efficiency labels; limiting the use of high-power electrical devices during peak hours (from 12-15h and from 22-24h daily); and paying attention to cleaning electrical devices that have been used for a long time. Inspect electrical wiring after the meter, along with circuit breakers and fuses, and immediately replace any damaged, old, or unsafe electrical equipment to avoid overloading the household electrical system and causing electrical fires; use air conditioners at a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius or higher; take advantage of natural wind and sunlight during the day…
Looking ahead, Can Tho City Power Company will strengthen coordination with relevant departments, agencies, and localities to implement diverse activities promoting electricity saving to households, agencies, and businesses. This will not only spread the electricity saving campaign more widely throughout the community but also help the power sector better fulfill its role in supplying electricity to the city.
