Phan Thiet's specialty fish sauce, under the brand name Lang Chai Xua (Ancient Fishing Village), has officially hit supermarket shelves in the US.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Dung, Director of SEAGULL Co., Ltd., commonly known for its Lang Chai Xua fish sauce brand, said that they have successfully exported a batch of products to their partner, CTWS Group in the United States.

This shipment from Lang Chai Xua includes not only traditional anchovy-based products but also a "3-in-1" vegetarian fish sauce, fermented from pineapple, soybean extract, and Japanese Shiitake mushrooms. Mr. Dung stated: "During our two years of researching the US market, we've noticed a clear trend towards plant-based consumption. This vegetarian fish sauce has received very positive feedback in Vietnamese markets in the US thanks to its delicious flavor, comparable to traditional fish sauce. Therefore, we decided that the first containers of our shipment will include vegetarian fish sauce." Additionally, this export shipment to the US also includes Lang Chai Xua's concentrated anchovy fish sauce. This is a truly traditional Vietnamese fish sauce, fermented from large, plump, fresh anchovies in wooden barrels. Alongside this is Lang Chai Xua's red-fleshed yellow anchovy fish sauce, packaged in traditional ceramic jars with braided rope. This fish sauce is fermented using a rare species of red-fleshed anchovy living in nutrient-rich upwelling waters. Ms. Dziễm Chinh, President of CTWS Group, a company specializing in importing and distributing Vietnamese and Asian products in the US, stated: "In the US, the fish sauce market is dominated by manufacturers from Thailand and Hong Kong (China) due to their early market share and low prices as they are industrially produced. Among the three 'Làng Chài Xưa' products brought to the US this time, I have high expectations for the vegetarian fish sauce because, in addition to Vietnamese customers, there are also local customers. This is a good option for consumers looking for a new and unique flavor. Handcrafted vegetarian fish sauce is still rare in the US, so the chances of this product succeeding in the US are quite high," she emphasized.
