OECD raises global economic growth forecast

Việt NamViệt Nam06/02/2024

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), global economic growth in 2024 is forecast at 2.9%, higher than the 2.7% forecast three months ago.

The global economy is on track to grow better this year than forecast just a few months ago as an improvement in the US offsets weakness in the euro zone.

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), global economic growth in 2024 is forecast at 2.9%, higher than the 2.7% forecast three months ago.

The US economy is forecast to grow 2.1% this year as lower inflation spurs interest rate cuts.

China's economic growth is forecast at 4.7%.

In Europe, the health of the leading economy, Germany, is a big problem as exports have fallen more than expected.

Although inflation has eased in major economies, the OECD warned that it is too early to say price pressures have been brought under control as threats remain, such as the Hamas-Israel conflict and attacks on cargo ships in the Red Sea.
