Te Le commune in Tam Nong district has an area of over 1,700 hectares, including over 400 hectares of agricultural land and 755 hectares of hilly forest land. In recent years, implementing poverty reduction and socio- economic development programs, Te Le commune has promoted agricultural development, carried out land consolidation to facilitate cultivation, and contributed to increasing people's income.

After land consolidation, the people of Te Le commune were able to cultivate their land and develop their economy more easily.

Comrade Nguyen Huu Hung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Te Le commune, said: Implementing the District Party Committee's Resolution on land consolidation, in 2016 and 2017, Te Le commune implemented a "clearing up" process of consolidating small plots into larger fields to facilitate cultivation. Before consolidation, each household had 15-17 fragmented plots of land with no roads. After consolidation, the entire commune has built over 14km of gravel roads 3.5-5m wide and 2.7km of concrete roads within the fields. Each household now has 1-2 large plots of land, with a minimum area of over 700m² , making cultivation more convenient.

In addition, people have the opportunity to apply science and technology to livestock farming and economic development, introducing high-quality hybrid corn and rice varieties into cultivation, contributing to increased income. Many households have boldly switched from traditional corn and peanut farming to high-quality cash crops such as hybrid papaya and export cucumbers... Combining this with growing fresh flowers and sugarcane to replace traditional crops with low economic efficiency.

Mr. Tran Quang Hao's (far right) papaya farming model in Zone 4, Te Le Commune, is initially showing high economic efficiency.

Mr. Tran Quang Hao, from Zone 4, Te Le Commune, said: "Previously, my family grew peanuts, but the economic efficiency was not high. After researching on mass media and receiving advice from the local government, I gradually switched to growing sugarcane and papaya on an area of more than 1 hectare. Initially, the plants are growing well and the market demand is assured."

Thanks to a focus on agricultural development, the average food production in the commune currently reaches 410 kg/person/year; average income reaches 52 million VND/person/year, an increase of 21 million VND compared to before land consolidation (2015). The poverty rate in the entire commune is now only 2.46%, a decrease of 3.25% compared to the beginning of the term. The near-poverty rate is 6.8%. The commune is building a model new rural area, striving to achieve advanced new rural commune status by 2025.

Along with agricultural development, Te Le commune has also attracted several companies and units producing plywood, leather shoes, and garments to invest in the area. This not only helps increase local revenue but also creates regular on-site jobs for over 600 workers with an average income of 8-15 million VND/person/year. Notable examples include Thanh Dat Wood Company and Trung Thanh Sand Company.

At the same time, the commune has actively implemented social welfare policies and sustainable poverty reduction programs. To date, the Te Le commune has received support from the district in the form of 28 breeding cows, distributed to 9 poor households and 19 near-poor households. Local authorities have propagated and encouraged the people to take advantage of the local area's vast land and numerous grazing grounds to raise breeding cows. Currently, some cows have already given birth, helping to increase the economic efficiency for the families.

In the coming period, Te Le commune aims to maintain a reduction in the multidimensional poverty rate of 0.15% or more, and a reduction in the near-poverty rate of 0.35% or more. To achieve this goal, the commune will continue to implement scientific and technological advancements and new crop varieties in production, supply corn seeds, and develop biomass corn cultivation models. It will encourage the development of livestock and poultry, and effectively implement disease prevention and control measures for livestock. Alongside this, greater attention will be paid to poverty alleviation and improving the living standards of the people.
