Determined to bring Vietnam-France relations increasingly deeper, more effective and practical

Following bilateral activities in Paris, France, on the afternoon of June 10 (local time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with President of the French National Assembly Yael Braun-Pivet.

The Prime Minister respectfully conveyed the greetings of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to National Assembly Chairman Yael Braun-Pivet and thanked the French side for the warm and thoughtful reception extended to him and the high-level Vietnamese delegation.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam always values ​​and wishes to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with France, Vietnam's first and only comprehensive strategic partner in the EU; affirming that this visit to France, following President E. Macron's visit at the end of May, demonstrates Vietnam's determination to deepen and enhance the effectiveness and practicality of bilateral relations.

Welcoming the Prime Minister and the high-level delegation of Vietnam, Speaker of the National Assembly Yael Braun-Pivet highly appreciated the program with many important activities of the Prime Minister, thereby concretizing the major directions in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The President of the French National Assembly stated that the Chairman of the French-Vietnamese Parliamentary Friendship Group had joined President Emmanuel Macron's delegation on his visit to Vietnam, and the French National Assembly assessed the visit as having exceeded expectations.

Speaker of the National Assembly Yael Braun-Pivet expressed admiration for Vietnam's tremendous achievements in all aspects of development and affirmed that cooperation and exchange of delegations between the two parliaments is one of the important pillars within the framework of the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Chairman Yael Braun-Pivet stated that an increasing number of French people are coming to Vietnam to form communities, live, invest, do business, and work, and many have achieved great success in Vietnam. It is these expatriate communities in each country that have strengthened the close relationship between the two nations.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the significant achievements in their excellent cooperative relationship, especially in the exchange of delegations and contacts between the two Parliaments. They assessed this as vivid evidence of the close ties and effective cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries, contributing to enhanced understanding, strengthening political trust, and promoting cooperation in various fields.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the important role of the National Assembly in exercising constitutional and legislative powers, deciding on important issues, and supervising the activities of the state.

The Prime Minister shared that in Vietnam, the current percentage of women participating in the 15th National Assembly is 30.2%, and the percentage of women participating in provincial and district-level People's Councils is 29%. With this rate, Vietnam is among the countries with the highest percentage of women participating in politics in the world.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Speaker of the National Assembly Yael Braun-Pivet agreed to continue maintaining exchanges of high-level delegations and between specialized committees, parliamentary friendship groups, women's parliamentary groups, and young parliamentary groups of the two countries to exchange experiences and improve the effectiveness of the parliamentary bodies of both countries, as well as strengthen effective monitoring of cooperation agreements signed between the two governments.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that France promptly ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).

On the multilateral level, both sides agreed to strengthen coordination and mutual support in regional and global inter-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Francophone Parliament, etc., and to jointly promote the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the benefit of the people of both countries, and for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

To further develop the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and France in a deeper, more substantive way, and to leverage the strengths of both countries in the coming period, the Prime Minister requested the French National Assembly's support for the Government in implementing specific contents of the comprehensive strategic partnership, including symbolic projects in areas such as transportation infrastructure development, new energy, education and training, culture and arts, museum preservation, and people-to-people exchanges.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also respectfully conveyed the invitation from National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to National Assembly Chairman Yael Braun-Pivet to visit Vietnam. National Assembly Chairman Yael Braun-Pivet happily accepted the invitation.
