On the afternoon of August 29th, at the Tran Chi Dao Hall – Administration Building of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (Linh Xuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), under the chairmanship of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam Association of Scientific and Technological Information, and the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, a workshop entitled "The Role of Scientific and Technological Information in Socio-Economic Development" will be held.
This is the first time a large-scale, in-depth workshop on the role of science and technology information has been organized. This is even more significant given that the Politburo has issued Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, on breakthroughs in the development of science and technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.
The workshop, organized by One World Magazine and the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, is expected to attract approximately 600 delegates and will be chaired by representatives from the aforementioned organizations.
The workshop also included presentations and discussions from representatives of universities, research institutes, experts, scientists, researchers, leading businesses in various fields, and students from universities in Ho Chi Minh City.
Notably, the workshop attracted nearly 100 science and technology and information officers from communes and wards in Ho Chi Minh City following the implementation of the two-tiered local government system.
The main focus of the workshop was to enhance awareness of the role of science and technology information in Vietnam's socio-economic development. Simultaneously, it aimed to contribute to policy development and propose solutions to improve the effectiveness of science and technology information application and management.
A particularly important aspect of the workshop was clarifying the role of science and technology information as a driving force for innovation, digital economic development, and industrialization and modernization, in line with Resolution No. 57.
The conference will feature numerous presentations on topics such as: The crucial role of science and technology information in education and training in particular, and national development in general; Building a science and technology information ecosystem for innovation and digital economic development in Vietnam; Applying artificial intelligence – A breakthrough driving force for Vietnam in the digital age; The role of blockchain and digital assets…
In parallel, there will be two discussion sessions: Strategic technologies of the era of growth; and the needs and current status of science and technology information for the business community, universities, and research institutes.
Through this workshop, the organizers aim to promote cooperation, information sharing, and innovation in the field of science and technology, fostering connections with international information and data resources: Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore, Springer Nature, and other international data sources, especially in strategic technology areas such as: AI and data science (AI, Machine Learning, Big Data); semiconductor and microchip technology; advanced biotechnology and biomedical technology; green energy and storage technology; digital economy and digital humanities…
The conference promises to be a highly anticipated event, opening a new chapter for the development of science and technology information in Vietnam during this era of national progress.
