DNO - On the morning of April 23, Tran Thang Loi, Secretary of the Hai Chau District Party Committee, along with members of the City People's Council delegation representing Hai Chau district and relevant departments and agencies, organized a monitoring and inspection team to examine the handling of telecommunications cables in the district.

Accordingly, the team inspected the following areas: Le Loi - Phan Chau Trinh street; alley 308 Hoang Dieu street; and Trieu Nu Vuong street (section from Nguyen Trai street to Hung Vuong street).

During the on-site inspection, Tran Thang Loi, Secretary of the District Party Committee and Head of the City People's Council delegation for Hai Chau district, discussed and pointed out many shortcomings and limitations, and listened to direct suggestions and feedback from voters on issues such as urban aesthetics and fire safety in residential areas related to telecommunication cables.

According to a report by the Hai Chau District People's Committee, in 2023, the work of tidying up telecommunication cables hanging on utility poles and telecommunication poles was carried out well by the relevant units. The local authorities promptly addressed requests and feedback from residents of the 13 wards in the district regarding issues related to telecommunication cables, sagging power cables, broken cables, etc.

Simultaneously, documents were sent to relevant authorities requesting prompt handling of numerous pressing issues raised by residents. As a result, authorities promptly renovated approximately 16km of roads within the district.

The number of telecommunications companies violating regulations by installing telecommunications cables on utility poles has decreased significantly compared to 2022. However, in some streets and alleys, urban aesthetics are still detracted from the area due to the illegal development of subscriber cables and the failure to remove old, unused cables.

To ensure that the arrangement and undergrounding of telecommunication cables meet the requirements of urban development, the People's Committee of Hai Chau District requests that competent authorities pay attention and create favorable conditions for the synchronized implementation of undergrounding of telecommunication cables to enhance urban aesthetics and traffic safety.

On the other hand, relevant units are required to simultaneously underground telecommunications cables when implementing renovations, upgrades, or new constructions of transportation routes, apartment complexes, etc.

According to Tran Thang Loi, Secretary of the District Party Committee and Head of the City People's Council delegation for Hai Chau District, the on-site inspection revealed the current state of the telecommunications cable system and the issues that need to be addressed. He also noted that this serves as a stepping stone for implementing effective measures when proceeding with the undergrounding of some inner-city roads in the city center in the future.

The suggestions from voters, the District People's Committee, the Department of Information and Communications, and Hai Chau Power Company accurately reflect the current situation and are specific. From this, the City People's Council delegation for Hai Chau district will compile these proposals and recommendations and report them to the competent authorities for attention, guidance, and support; thereby aiming to build Hai Chau district into a central, model urban area of the city.

On the other hand, the Secretary of the Hai Chau District Party Committee requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district to coordinate with the People's Committees of the 13 wards to fully compile the opinions of voters related to the issue of telecommunications cables. At the same time, he requested the District People's Committee to proactively study technical measures for undergrounding telecommunications cables when implementing the expansion of alleyways and narrow streets in the district.
