Agricultural product prices today, May 10: Durian ends its downward trend; early season young apricot prices increase. Housewives spend millions of dong on early season young apricots to stock up for later consumption.

At Dong Xa market and markets around Cau Giay area, Hanoi , the price of early season apricots is quite high, about 120,000 - 140,000 VND/kg. According to traders, these are young apricots harvested from rural areas on the outskirts of Hanoi such as: Ung Hoa, Phu Xuyen, My Duc...

The tamarinds planted on inner-city streets such as Tran Phu, Tran Hung Dao, Phan Dinh Phung, Ba Trieu, and Hang Bai are still very small and have not been harvested yet.

Ms. Thu, a trader at Dong Xa market, said: "Because it is the first season of crocodiles, the quantity is not much, the current price is higher than the main season, but it is still very "popular". There are days when I sell dozens of kilos, many times I cannot import goods to sell."

When I asked, I found out that the price of star fruit was more than 100,000 VND/kg, as expensive as imported fruit."

Meanwhile, Ms. Minh (Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi) expressed: "The early season star fruit is a bit expensive but very delicious, you can eat the seeds too, I bought it to soak in fish sauce and chili, it goes well with rice and everyone in the family likes it."

Similarly, Ms. Quynh Anh (Cau Giay, Hanoi) said that even though the first season of star fruit is expensive, she still buys a little to eat first: "Every year, my family buys star fruit to store in the refrigerator to eat gradually. But this year, before the season begins, our family has run out of star fruit. Therefore, when we see the first season of star fruit, we have to buy it right away."

Pickled young crocodiles are in high demand on the online market.

On the online market, young crocodiles are sold for 100,000 - 150,000 VND/kg and are still bought by many customers to enjoy. Not only sold by weight, many people also sell crocodiles soaked in fish sauce for nearly 200,000 VND/jar.

Ms. Trang - an online fruit seller said: Selling pickled apricots is more profitable than fresh apricots, but it takes more time and effort. "I can only pickle 5-7 jars a day. In addition, the time for young apricots to dry out is very fast, in just about half a month the apricots will turn into the young stage, then when they are old, they will be suitable for cooking soup and soaking in water."

It is known that the crocodile season usually lasts about 3 - 4 months from May to September every year; in which the main season is in June - July, when the crocodile is firm, has thick flesh and costs from 30,000 - 40,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the crocodile in the early season has a smaller shape, but is loved by many people because the young crocodile meat is soft and the seeds can be eaten, many people buy it to prepare many dishes such as: crocodile soaked in fish sauce, crocodile jam, crocodile sour soup...
