On the afternoon of July 10th, Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Member of the Political Bureau, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the National Committee on Digital Transformation, chaired the conference to review the first six months of 2024 on national digital transformation and Government Project 06. The conference was connected online to the locations of ministries, agencies, and People's Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities.

In the first six months of the year, the Government and the Prime Minister continued to decisively direct and implement comprehensive solutions to make the national digital transformation increasingly effective and practical; promoting digital transformation in almost all fields; focusing on building and perfecting institutions, mechanisms, and policies to promote the development of digital government, digital economy , digital society, and digital citizens.
At the same time, the implementation of Project 06 was carried out vigorously from the central to the grassroots level, receiving the approval, support, and high praise of the people and businesses.
Under Project 06, the whole country has completed 244 out of 656 tasks according to the roadmap; 122 tasks are being implemented regularly, and 38 tasks are currently underway.
To date, the National Public Service Portal has provided more than 4,500 online public services; has 16.39 million accounts; 328 million synchronized records; 28.8 million online payment transactions totaling VND 14,528 billion; 63 out of 63 localities (an increase of 14 localities compared to the end of 2023) have issued policies to reduce or waive fees for using online public services; 15 out of 63 localities (an increase of 2 localities compared to the end of 2023) have issued policies to reduce processing time to encourage people to use online public services.
The digital economy is estimated to have grown by 22.4% in the first six months of the year, and its share of GDP is estimated at 18.3%. Revenue from the information technology (ICT) sector is estimated at 1.9 trillion VND, a 26% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The percentage of adults with payment accounts reached 87.08% (a 9.67% increase compared to the end of 2023), exceeding the target set for 2025.
Regarding digital infrastructure, nationwide, approximately 687,000 more households used broadband fiber optic internet compared to the end of 2023, raising the percentage of households using broadband fiber optic internet to 82.2% (an increase of 2.6% compared to 79.6% at the end of 2023); more than 3.8 million mobile phone subscribers used smartphones, raising the percentage of mobile phone subscribers using smartphones to 84% (an increase of 3.2% compared to 80.8% at the end of 2023)...
In his concluding remarks at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts, achievements, and results of the ministries, sectors, localities, and relevant entities; the decisive leadership of the members of the National Steering Committee for Digital Transformation; and the consensus, support, and active participation of the people and businesses.
The comrade requested that ministries, sectors, and localities continue to effectively carry out propaganda, dissemination, and raise awareness about digital transformation; focus on building databases for their respective ministries, sectors, and localities and promote data sharing; and in the process of implementing digital transformation tasks, people and businesses should be at the center and as the main subjects, requiring high determination, great effort, decisive action, and consistency between words and deeds.
In addition, he requested the acceleration of digitalization to enrich data in ministries, departments, and localities; the development of a shared database on e-commerce; and the promotion of electronic payment infrastructure.
The Ministry of Information and Communications will soon finalize and submit to the Prime Minister for promulgation the Strategy for the Development of Vietnam's Semiconductor Industry until 2030.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment has submitted a proposal for the issuance of a Human Resource Development Plan for the Semiconductor Industry until 2030, with a vision to 2045.
The Ministry of Health is urgently submitting for promulgation the Project on Developing Digital Infrastructure and Applying Information Technology to Serve the Digital Transformation of Healthcare by 2030.
