The Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negative Practices of Thanh Hoa Province (the Steering Committee) recently held its 9th meeting to review the report on the Committee's activities since the 8th meeting and the key tasks for the remaining months of 2024.

According to the report by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tien, Head of the Internal Affairs Committee and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee, since the 8th meeting, the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee has directed relevant agencies to expedite the verification, investigation, and handling of cases and incidents.

In this regard, the Steering Committee directed the prosecuting agencies to coordinate with relevant authorities to urgently focus on the investigation progress as requested for supplementary investigation into the case of "Violation of management and use of state assets causing loss and waste" that occurred at the Hac Thanh Tower project.

The Steering Committee also requested the prosecuting agencies to advise the Standing Committee of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee on directing the handling of the case of "Abuse of position and power while performing official duties" that occurred in Quang Chinh commune, Quang Xuong district.

Focus on investigating and resolving definitively cases and incidents that have been difficult or complicated for a long time.

To date, the Steering Committee has resolved and removed one case/4 defendants from its purview, concluded investigations and prosecutions for two cases/14 suspects; the remaining four cases (two criminal cases and two incidents) are currently under investigation and verification for processing according to the law…

At the meeting, Mr. Lai The Nguyen, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, stated that since the 8th meeting, the Steering Committee has closely followed its tasks with a decisive spirit, leaving no areas untouched.

Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen requested that the prosecution and trial of the Hac Thanh Tower case be expedited and scheduled for December.

Previously, in connection with the Hac Thanh Tower case, which caused losses to the state budget of over 55.8 billion VND, at the end of 2023, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police prosecuted 11 defendants, including several key leaders of Thanh Hoa province such as: Trinh Van Chien, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Dinh Xung, former Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Dinh Cam Van, former Director of the Department of Finance; Dinh Xuan Huong, former Secretary of the Nhu Thanh District Party Committee, former General Director of Song Ma Company....
