Strengthening management of sand and gravel mining in riverbeds

Tra Vinh province continues to strengthen the management of sand and gravel mining in riverbeds in the province.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and localities to strictly implement legal provisions in the field of mineral exploration, exploitation and resource management; thoroughly grasp the contents of Decree No. 23/2020/ND-CP dated February 24, 2020 of the Government regulating the management of river sand and gravel and protection of river beds, banks and beaches.

In particular, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tra Vinh province presides over and coordinates to focus on checking and reviewing the registration of names and types of vehicles and equipment used to exploit and transport sand and gravel; the installation of devices to monitor journeys and store data and information on the location and travel routes of vehicles and equipment used to exploit and transport sand and gravel; checking river sand and gravel wharfs and yards and the installation of weighing stations and cameras to monitor the volume of sand and gravel bought and sold at wharfs and yards.

Along with that, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tra Vinh province presides over and coordinates the inspection and review of means of transporting sand and gravel on the river, the business activities and use of sand and gravel on river beds; compliance with regulations on ensuring the legal origin of minerals used in construction works; inspection and supervision of the permitted exploitation time and implementation of legal regulations in the impact assessment report of exploitation activities on ensuring the stability of river banks and riverside areas; ensuring the circulation of water flow, the ability to drain and drain floods, erosion of river beds, erosion of river banks and beaches, reduction of river water levels in the dry season, and conservation of related ecosystems.

At the same time, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tra Vinh province presides over and coordinates the statistics and inventory of actual exploited mineral output according to the instructions in Circular No. 17/2020/TTBTNMT dated December 24, 2020 of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment ; advises and proposes the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province to arrange and coordinate the exploited mineral output for key transport projects in the region according to the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister.

In addition, the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province also assigned the Provincial Police, the Border Guard Command, the Department of Transport, the Provincial Tax Department and the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities based on the functions and tasks of the sector and localities to coordinate with relevant agencies, units and localities to strengthen the management of sand and gravel mining in riverbeds in Tra Vinh province according to the content of Official Dispatch No. 8797/BTNMT-KSVN dated October 16, 2023 of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on strengthening the management of sand and gravel mining in riverbeds...
