Vietnam is the only Southeast Asian representative to be included in Time Out magazine's list of "9 safest places in the world for female solo travelers ".

"When it comes to the safest destinations for women traveling solo in Southeast Asia, Thailand and Vietnam consistently rank among the top two, but Vietnam is still a better starting point," Time Out noted.

Thanks to their political stability and low rates of violent crime, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are also ideal destinations for foreigners.

Time Out 's editors also suggest that travelers explore the ancient villages of Hoi An, known for its slow pace of life and tranquil atmosphere. Visitors should also not forget to enjoy the cuisine of Hue, once the capital of the Nguyen dynasty, Vietnam's last feudal dynasty.

Currently, Hue boasts over 1,200 dishes, including Hue beef noodle soup, Hue-style sweet soup, spring rolls, and clam rice, a rice dish made with rustic ingredients such as clams and fresh herbs.

Besides Vietnam, the list also includes Sri Lanka, Japan, Australia, Greece, and New Zealand.
