In the 11 months of 2025, Phu Quoc tourism achieved outstanding results, far exceeding the targets and plans set for the year, with the total number of tourists estimated at more than 7.5 million, exceeding the plan by 4.7%.
Of which, international visitors were the highlight with nearly 1.6 million arrivals, up 81%, exceeding the plan by 35%. Total revenue was about VND38,883 billion, exceeding the yearly plan by 65.5%.
These impressive figures affirm the strong attraction of the international-class high-quality eco-tourism pearl, creating momentum for Phu Quoc tourism to continue to break through in 2026 and accelerate development before APEC 2027.
With the 11-month results exceeding the 2025 plan spectacularly, along with strategic steps, Phu Quoc special economic zone is steadfast on its journey to become the leading sea and island tourism destination in the region and affirm its international position.
Director of An Giang Department of Tourism Bui Quoc Thai shared that the province submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the "Project to build Phu Quoc into a center of high-quality eco-tourism, sea and island tourism of national and international stature."
This is the strategic foundation for sustainable and high-quality development for the pearl island. Key tasks are comprehensively implemented to ensure the quality of facilities, services, travel and compliance with tourism laws in Phu Quoc, in line with the orientation of high-quality tourism development.
Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone has an area of over 575km2, with 66% being natural forest, possessing a diverse marine-forest ecosystem, many of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam, among the top most beautiful beaches in the world and the region voted by many famous world travel magazines.

Mr. Nguyen Vu Khac Huy, Chairman of the An Giang Province Tourism Association, affirmed that the APEC 2027 event is a "golden opportunity" for Phu Quoc tourism, laying the foundation for its transformation into an international "island super city".

The selection of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone as the venue for the 2027 APEC Summit Week has great strategic significance. Facing this “golden opportunity”, Phu Quoc has strengthened its foreign affairs and international integration activities, implementing the motto “Every Phu Quoc resident is a tourism ambassador.”
Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone Tran Minh Khoa emphasized that Phu Quoc aims to become an international ecological, resort and creative center. By 2030, Phu Quoc aims to have a total of 15 million tourists.
