Training teachers to teach national defense and security education

GD&TĐ - On July 7 in Hai Phong, the Ministry of Education and Training held the opening ceremony of a training course for managers, teachers, and lecturers of national defense and security education.

The training course took place from July 7th to 12th, 2025, with the participation of 389 trainees, including officials, teachers, and lecturers representing 20 provinces and cities, 2 high schools under the Ministry of Education and Training , 25 national defense and security education centers, and 32 universities and colleges in the northern region.

In his opening remarks at the training course, Major General Tran Ngoc Thanh, Director of the Department of National Defense and Security Education (Ministry of Education and Training), emphasized that national defense and security education for students plays a crucial role in the Party's revolutionary line and the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.

Over the years, national defense and security education for students at educational institutions nationwide has gradually become more systematic and achieved many encouraging results. Students have been well-equipped with patriotism, national pride, necessary military skills, and a sense of responsibility and self-awareness in fulfilling national defense and security duties and protecting the Fatherland.

These results demonstrate the concern and responsibility of educational institutions in leading, directing, and organizing the implementation of national defense and security education tasks, especially the decisive and direct role of the management staff, teachers, and lecturers of national defense and security education in educational and training institutions.

In the coming years, the global and regional situation is expected to continue to be complex and unpredictable. The cause of national renewal, construction, and defense of our people under the leadership of the Party is facing many intertwined opportunities, favorable circumstances, difficulties, and challenges.

In line with the policy of streamlining the state administrative apparatus and organizing local governments at two levels, the work of national defense and security education for students in educational institutions has undergone significant changes in both management and implementation. Strengthening national defense and security education for students is an important task, contributing to protecting the Fatherland from early on and from afar.

Emphasizing the importance of the training course in enhancing the capacity of management staff, teachers, and lecturers teaching the subject of National Defense and Security Education in terms of content, organization, teaching methods, and practice, Director Tran Ngoc Thanh requested the presenters to demonstrate a sense of responsibility and convey the content according to their assigned topics.

The management staff, teachers, and lecturers of national defense and security education participating in the training course must strictly adhere to the regulations of the Organizing Committee; fully grasp the content, program, and teaching methods of the subject; and upon returning to their units, develop plans and organize retraining for their management staff, teachers, and lecturers in accordance with regulations.

During the training course, participants were introduced to nine topics by speakers from the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of National Defense; thereby unifying and updating knowledge on non-traditional security and non-traditional security threats, aiming to improve the quality of teaching and learning the subject of National Defense and Security Education in schools.
