President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang has just signed and issued plan No. 34 on organizing activities to care for union members and workers during the Lunar New Year 2026 under the guidance of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
According to this plan, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will mobilize maximum resources so that all union members and workers can have a joyful, safe and healthy Tet holiday. The theme of this year's program is "Happy Tet - Spring of gratitude to the Party" with the motto "All union members and workers have a happy Tet holiday".
Accordingly, caring activities will be deployed synchronously from the General Confederation to the grassroots levels. At the General Confederation level, delegations will be organized to visit, give gifts and wish a happy new year to workers in enterprises, industrial parks, export processing zones, remote areas, and industries that are hard-working or affected by natural disasters. Each Tet gift is expected to be worth 1.3 million VND (including 1 million VND in cash and 300,000 VND in kind).
The General Confederation will also organize the “Trade Union Tet Market - Spring 2026” program in two forms (as in previous years): directly in localities with a large number of workers (expected to be in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City) and online through the issuance of discount codes for union members. Activities at the Tet market will provide essential goods at preferential prices, discounts or “0 VND” products, health check-ups, medicine distribution, free motorcycle oil changes for workers, etc.
This year, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will organize a program called “Union Year-end Dinner” with a meal worth 70,000 VND from the union’s financial resources and contributions from socialization. This is an opportunity for employees, trade unions and employers to meet, share, and create an atmosphere of solidarity and unity.

Along with that, trade unions at all levels will continue to organize "Tet Sum Vay", "Tet Not Far From Home", trains, cars and planes to take workers home to celebrate Tet, especially giving priority to workers who have not had the opportunity to return home for many years.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also requested labor federations to proactively balance finances and mobilize social resources to take care of Tet with a maximum of 1 million VND/person.
According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the scale and resources for taking care of the Lunar New Year this year will be larger than previous years, clearly demonstrating the role and mark of the trade union organization in protecting and accompanying workers. Trade unions at all levels are assigned to be more proactive in managing, allocating funds and choosing appropriate organizational forms, ensuring that all care activities are directed towards the grassroots, reaching the hands of workers and laborers.
It is estimated that for Tet 2026, about 6,000 billion VND will be mobilized to care for and support union members and workers nationwide. This year, the scale and resources are expected to increase by 10-15%, focusing on activities such as visiting, giving gifts, organizing "Union Tet Market", "Reunion Tet" and "Union Year-end Meal".
