Youth promote the role of innovation and knowledge economy

On the morning of October 22, the Central Youth Union held a conference for key officials of the Youth Union, Associations, and Young Pioneers; and outstanding youths at home and abroad to contribute ideas to the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress.

In his opening speech, Secretary of the Central Youth Union and Chairman of the Central Council of Young Pioneers Nguyen Pham Duy Trang emphasized that the 14th National Congress of the Party is a major political event. The draft documents submitted to the Congress have been carefully prepared by the Party Central Committee, the Politburo and the Secretariat, reflecting the wisdom and creativity of the entire Party, people and army.

Comrade Nguyen Pham Duy Trang suggested that the delegates focus on exchanging and discussing frankly, directly and responsibly on the following contents: General issues in the documents submitted to the 14th National Party Congress; analyzing, evaluating and proposing tasks and solutions to organize implementation according to the structure and content of the 12 orientations for national development in the period 2026-2030. In particular, the delegates proposed more in-depth on the role and mission of youth in implementing the policies, viewpoints and strategic tasks identified in the draft documents, especially strategic breakthrough areas.

On behalf of the youth of the capital, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union Tran Quang Hung said that in the 5 years of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress and the 40 years of renovation, the country has achieved many great and comprehensive achievements, notably economic development and improvement of people's lives. Comrade Tran Quang Hung proposed that the document should supplement more specific data on a number of fields; at the same time, emphasizing the increasingly important role of the fields of digital economy, green economy, circular economy and innovation, which are decisive driving forces for the country's rapid and sustainable growth.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Ngo Minh Hai said that in the draft documents of the 14th Party Congress, it is necessary to further emphasize the improvement of political theory level for young cadres at the commune level. This is a force directly close to the people, playing an important role in implementing the Party's policies and guidelines at the grassroots level; and is the next generation in the grassroots government apparatus in the future.

The Youth Union should be assigned more tasks in discovering, training, and introducing young cadres to the political system. Therefore, there should be a mechanism for connecting cadre work from branch secretaries and excellent grassroots youth secretaries who can become a source of young leaders in wards, communes, agencies, and enterprises - Comrade Ngo Minh Hai proposed.

As a young person in the health sciences industry, Dr. Nguyen Viet Hai, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, proposed adding the orientation of "Building a data and digital knowledge economy" as a basis for including specific content in the national target program for the period 2026-2035, with a clear roadmap on infrastructure, legal corridor and human resource training.

I hope that the Official Document will continue to affirm more clearly the vision of "Building Vietnam into an innovative country, with an economy based on knowledge, data and human values" - Dr. Nguyen Viet Hai proposed.

Paying special attention to the field of education, comrade Dinh Cao Son, Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face of 2023, a student at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), said that in order to meet the new requirements of the times, educational innovation must first start with innovation in thinking and educational philosophy. In addition, special attention should be paid to narrowing the gap in access to education between regions, especially in remote, isolated areas and ethnic minority areas.

It is time for us to change from the model of “education for exams” to “education for living - for working - for creating - for being human”. Education cannot stop at imparting knowledge but must aim at comprehensive human development in terms of intelligence, morality, physical strength, skills and sense of responsibility to society - Comrade Dinh Cao Son shared.

Concluding the conference, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union Bui Quang Huy said that in the morning session, the conference took place in an exciting and effective manner with 17 direct comments and many written comments.

The conference was held in person and online, connecting to 4,088 points of contact, with more than 80,000 delegates attending at all points of contact, with very diverse audiences, such as youth, young intellectuals, businessmen, artists, youth abroad...

Comrade Bui Quang Huy summarized the proposals focusing on: The document needs to clarify the viewpoint based on knowledge, talent and core technology; affirming that youth are the creative subjects and leading forces in innovation and digital transformation. Regarding development orientation, opinions suggested shifting from a broad to an in-depth growth model, focusing on green economy, circular economy, and at the same time developing key areas such as: Artificial Intelligence, big data, biotechnology, considering youth as the vanguard force in these areas...

Comrade Bui Quang Huy highly appreciated the seriousness, responsibility and enthusiasm of the delegates, who contributed many profound and practical opinions to the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress. The Organizing Committee will compile all opinions, discussions and articles to send to the competent authorities, serving the process of completing the documents to be submitted to the Congress.
