My connection with Physics
Born and raised in the former Le Thuy district – a region renowned for its tradition of academic excellence – teacher Truong Dinh Hung inherited the traditional qualities of his homeland. In particular, he developed an early passion for physics during his junior high school years when he joined the Le Thuy district's gifted physics team.
Teacher Truong Dinh Hung shared: "Natural phenomena viewed from a physics perspective are truly fascinating, and the beauty of physics problems—where logical thinking blends with practical applications—has truly captivated me throughout my high school years..."
Truong Dinh Hung's dream of becoming a physics teacher came true when he passed the entrance exam for the Physics Education program at Hue University of Education in 2002. During his time there, with the enthusiastic and dedicated guidance and teaching of his professors, and his passionate and serious approach to learning, Truong Dinh Hung had a brilliant youth at the university. First prize in the "Pedagogical Skills" competition at Hue University of Education in 2004, and third prize in the National Student Physics Olympiad in Hanoi in 2005... are the "sweet fruits" of the efforts of this student passionate about learning and research.
In 2006, after graduating with honors from university, Truong Dinh Hung was recruited by the Department of Education and Training and assigned to work at Quang Binh Specialized High School (now Vo Nguyen Giap Specialized High School). To further improve his professional skills, in 2007, Mr. Truong Dinh Hung returned to Hue University of Education to pursue postgraduate studies. After graduating with honors as valedictorian with a master's degree in Physics teaching methods and being recommended for doctoral studies, Truong Dinh Hung still decided to return to work at Vo Nguyen Giap Specialized High School.
Teaching at a top-tier school in the province known for its high-quality education, Mr. Truong Dinh Hung has had the opportunity to cultivate and develop his abilities and strengths. He has also received encouragement and support from other teachers in the school, enabling him to acquire valuable experience and become increasingly proficient in his professional skills and teaching methods. In 2012, he won first prize in the provincial high school physics teacher competition.
During the discussion, the Principal of Vo Nguyen Giap Specialized High School, Nguyen Thi Hai Yen, stated that in any field, Mr. Truong Dinh Hung always strives to excellently fulfill the tasks assigned to him.
The school's Board of Directors has entrusted him with many important tasks: Head of the Physics specialized class, Deputy Head of the Physics-Technology Department (2011-2024), Head of the Physics-Technology Department (from 2024 to present), Deputy Secretary of the School Youth Union Executive Committee (2014-2017 term), Secretary of the School Youth Union Executive Committee (2017-2021 term), Party Committee member, Secretary of Party Branch 1 (from 2015 to present). The results and achievements of the Physics department, the School Youth Union, and Party Branch 1 during this period are all due in no small part to the contributions of teacher Truong Dinh Hung.

" Passing on the flame" of passion and dedication to students.
Having continuously participated in the national gifted student training council from 2008 to the present, from a promising young talent to now being one of the solid pillars of the professional team, Mr. Truong Dinh Hung, along with other teachers in the Physics Department, has directly trained dozens of generations and hundreds of students to participate in the national gifted student competition.
“Identifying the task of nurturing gifted students as a key and central mission of the school, I always prioritize it, dedicating a lot of time and effort to it. In 2022, after completing my duties as Secretary of the School Youth Union Executive Committee and being assigned to be the homeroom teacher for the specialized Physics class of the 2022-2025 cohort, I developed a comprehensive educational plan for the course, with a focus on identifying and nurturing gifted Physics students…,” shared teacher Truong Dinh Hung.
With excellent professional skills and extensive experience, the teacher identified and nurtured talented students early on in grade 10, selecting a team to compete in the provincial-level gifted student competition, advancing them to grade 11. In the 2023-2024 school year, 5 out of 9 students in the grade 11 specialized Physics class were official members of the national gifted student team; the team had 6 students who won national awards, including 2 third prizes and 4 consolation prizes.
Following this success, in the 2024-2025 school year, the teacher was assigned to lead the national team of outstanding students in Physics and achieved the best results ever with 8 awards, including: 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 2 consolation prizes. Notably, 2 students were selected to participate in the regional and international Olympiad teams in 2025. The 2022-2025 graduating class under his supervision won 10 national awards, including a first prize, a truly proud achievement...
“Thank you, teacher, for everything you have silently given me, for your dedication, patience, and companionship throughout this journey. You not only taught me knowledge, but also taught me how to learn, how to self-improve, and most importantly, the perseverance to not give up in the face of difficulties… I will probably never forget these things for the rest of my life…”, these are the special words of gratitude from Nguyen Thai Son (a 12th-grade student specializing in Physics at Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted, who won first prize in Physics in the 2024-2025 national excellent student selection exam) to his homeroom teacher, Truong Dinh Hung.
At Vo Nguyen Giap Specialized High School, teacher Truong Dinh Hung has consistently strived for self-improvement, self-cultivation, and dedication, becoming a model and pioneering educator. In recognition of his contributions, he has received numerous commendations from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for his achievements in nurturing national-level outstanding students (5 commendations), and the title of "Outstanding Emulation Soldier" at the grassroots level from the Director of the Department of Education and Training (6 times, most recently in the 2023-2024 school year). These milestones are not only successes in his career of educating future generations, but also serve as a foundation and motivation for him to continue striving and fulfilling his mission of nurturing talent even better.
When asked about the secret to his success, teacher Truong Dinh Hung, with a radiant smile, humbly shared: “Because I fell in love with Physics; it’s my lifelong passion. To achieve the results I have today, I have received active support from the school’s Board of Directors, colleagues, and the companionship of my family, parents, and students. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone…”
