High School Graduation Exam 2025: Candidates are happy because they got the right literature topic

Many candidates walked out of the school gate chatting excitedly with their parents about the 'easy' 2025 high school graduation exam essay topics, especially the topics about country and peace that they had predicted.

At the exam center at Dong Khoi Secondary School, Tan Phu District, as soon as the school gate opened, Quynh Tien (from Tan Binh High School) and her best friend rushed out to meet their mother. Quynh Tien excitedly told her parents how she had "handled" the questions on the Literature exam for the 2025 high school graduation exam.

Tien said: "The essay topic, for both the reading comprehension and writing sections, required clarifying the theme of love for one's homeland and country. In particular, the social commentary question asked about the theme 'every sky above one's homeland is the sky above one's nation.' I found this topic interesting and not too difficult, and it wasn't easy to stray from the topic. I had a lot of inspiration to write about it."

Meanwhile, candidate Nguyen Duc Binh (Nam Viet High School) happily announced that he had "hit the jackpot" with the essay topic, having previously predicted that this year's exam would focus on the themes of country and peace .

"The essay topic is very topical and conveys a message about love for one's homeland and country in the context of our country having just celebrated the 50th anniversary of national reunification. I wrote extensively on question 5 in the reading comprehension section and the social commentary essay because I had many emotions. I think I will get 8 points," Duc Binh predicted.

Similarly, My Tam (Hoa Binh High School) also breathed a sigh of relief because she did very well in Literature. "This topic isn't new in recent years, but the way it was presented was very fresh and also relevant, evoking emotions in us because peace and love for our homeland are always in everyone's heart," Tam shared.

Commenting on the first year's literature exam under the 2018 general education program, Mr. Truong Minh Duc, a literature teacher at Le Quy Don High School (Ho Chi Minh City), said: "Overall, the literature exam met the spirit of the 2018 general education program. The structure of the exam was already guided by the sample exam, so candidates were not surprised."

According to Mr. Duc, the topic is interconnected across the reading comprehension and writing sections. The theme is relatable, the story is engaging, and it evokes patriotism linked to existential issues. Students who practice their skills well are guaranteed to meet the requirements. The exam is differentiated in the 5 questions of the reading comprehension section and the 2 questions of the writing section.

"The average score for the Literature subject in the 2025 high school graduation exam will fall between 6.5 and 8 points," predicted teacher Truong Minh Duc.
