In today's trading session (August 12), VN-Index officially surpassed 1,600 points after yesterday's tug-of-war session. This index closed up 11.36 points, to 1,608.22 points, the highest ever.

Leading the index's excitement was LPB ( LPBank ) stock, which increased by 6.28% to VND38,050/unit. Some other bank stocks were also on the rise, strongly affecting the index such as HDB, MBB, STB.

In addition, the general index is also supported by technology stocks such asFPT , retail stocks such as MSN, steel stocks such as HPG, real estate stocks such as CII, PDR...

On the day the market conquered a new peak, the assets of Vietnamese USD billionaires also fluctuated strongly, according to Forbes' update this afternoon.

Today, the group of stocks related to billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong has 2 stocks going sideways, 1 stock increasing in price and 1 stock decreasing. In general, his assets decreased slightly to 12 billion USD, making him the number 1 USD billionaire in Vietnam and ranked 221st in the world list.

In contrast, stocks related to billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao such as VJC and HDB increased by 2.4% and 3.5% respectively. Ms. Thao's assets increased by 112 million USD, reaching 3.3 billion USD.

Ranked 3rd in the list of Vietnamese USD billionaires is Mr. Tran Dinh Long - Chairman of Hoa Phat. Mr. Long's assets increased by 51 million USD, reaching 2.9 billion USD. Today's session, HPG shares increased 1.2% to 28,500 VND/unit.

Billionaires Ho Hung Anh - Chairman of Techcombank and Nguyen Dang Quang - Chairman of Masan both increased their asset value. In particular, MSN shares have increased for 7 consecutive sessions, since August 4. Today, this code increased by 1.95% to 83,600 VND/unit. Mr. Quang's assets reached 1.2 billion USD and Mr. Hung Anh's was 2.6 billion USD.

Returning to the general market, foreign investors net sold nearly 535 billion VND. Codes on the list of strong net selling include FPT, VNM, SSI, HPG, MWG, SHB. On the contrary, VPB, STB, POW, CTG... were strongly net bought.
