Weather on December 9: Sunny in the North in the afternoon, heavy rain continues in the Central region

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on December 9, weak cold air combined with East wind disturbances continued to dominate the weather across the country. In the North and the area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, there was rain in some places, early morning there was scattered fog and light fog causing limited visibility.

In the Central region, on the morning of December 9, rain and showers were recorded in Hue City, Da Nang City and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak. It is forecasted that from the afternoon of December 9 to the end of December 10, Hue and the coastal provinces of the South Central region will continue to have moderate to heavy rain; rainfall is generally 40-70 mm, with some places experiencing exceptionally heavy rain of over 150 mm.

Prolonged heavy rain poses a risk of flooding low-lying areas, urban areas, and industrial zones; and can also cause flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides in mountainous areas.

In the Central Highlands and the South, there will be showers and thunderstorms during the day and night of December 9, with rainfall of 20-40 mm, and locally over 80 mm. It is forecasted that from the night of December 10, heavy rain in most of the above areas will gradually decrease.

At sea, strong winds and rough seas continue to be the main weather patterns. This morning, the North East Sea and Huyen Tran station recorded strong northeast winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8; Phu Quy station had gusts of level 7-8; Ly Son station had strong winds of level 5, sometimes level 6.

Forecast for the day and night of December 9, the North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa sea area), the Southwestern East Sea area (including the West of Truong Sa sea area), as well as the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau will maintain Northeast wind level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting level 8-9; rough sea, waves 3-5 m high. The area from Da Nang to Dak Lak and the western sea area in the middle of the East Sea will have strong wind level 6, gusting level 7-8, rough sea with similar high waves.

From South Quang Tri to Hue, the Northeast wind is level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough sea, waves 2-4 m high. Particularly in the middle and South East Sea, including the Truong Sa sea area and the sea area from Da Nang to Khanh Hoa , there will continue to be scattered showers and thunderstorms; in thunderstorms there is a risk of tornadoes and strong gusts of level 6-7.

Northeast wind level 2-3. During thunderstorms there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts. Lowest temperature 21-24 degrees Celsius; in some places below 20 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 29-32 degrees Celsius

Ho Chi Minh City is cloudy, sunny during the day, with occasional showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night. Northeast wind level 2-3. Lowest temperature 20-22 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 29-31 degrees Celsius.
