This afternoon (February 21st), Ho Chi Minh City University of Education officially announced information regarding the 2025 Specialized Competency Assessment Examination (H-SCA).
Candidates must take at least one subject in the specialized aptitude test for admission consideration.
Professor Huynh Van Son, the school's principal, said that this year the school will continue to use the admission method combining scores from the specialized aptitude test with high school academic scores, similar to 2024. Specifically, candidates will choose to take one main subject from the admission combinations, and the remaining two subjects will use the average scores of six semesters in grades 10, 11, and 12. However, the weighting of the main subject to the other two subjects may change, with the main subject receiving a higher weight.
The 2025 H-SCA exam consists of six subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, and English. Candidates can choose one or more subjects to take that match their application preferences for admission to programs at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and other universities that use the exam results for admission.
The exam is expected to be held in 3 phases, accommodating over 30,000 participants (three times more than in 2024). Notably, this year the exam will be held at 8 locations across 3 regions: Southern, Central, and Central Highlands, making it convenient for candidates from many provinces and cities to participate. The specific exam locations include: Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (main campus in Ho Chi Minh City and 2 branches in Long An and Gia Lai provinces), Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, Can Tho University, University of Education (Da Nang University), University of Education (Hue University), and Tay Nguyen University.
The exam results are used for admission to many universities.
The 2025 exam is designed with many improvements in question structure and knowledge content closely following the 2018 General Education program, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of candidates' abilities. Of which, knowledge of the 12th grade program accounts for 70-80%, the rest belongs to the 10th and 11th grade programs.
As for the English test, the test will be based on the format of a competency assessment test from level 3 to level 5 according to the 6-level foreign language competency framework for Vietnam.
As for Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, in addition to the 31 majors that applied last year, a number of other majors are expected to use this method in 2025, including: history-geography pedagogy, geography pedagogy, geography, tourism , and international studies.
Furthermore, according to the Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, the results of the 2025 specialized competency assessment exam will also be used for admission to many other universities such as: Hanoi University of Education, Hanoi University of Education 2, University of Education (Hue University), University of Education (Da Nang University), Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, etc.
