Vietnam Motor Show 2024 officially opens

On October 23, 2024, the Vietnam Motor Show 2024 officially opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of 19 car brands and nearly 300 booths of the supporting industry.

On the first day, the exhibition welcomed thousands of visitors, especially the support of hundreds of press and media agencies. The highlight of this year's exhibition is a series of electric vehicles and green technology, affirming the commitment towards a sustainable future of the automobile and motorbike industry.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Danh Huy; Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade - Bui Ta Hoang Vu.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai said: “Today, I am very pleased to attend and speak at the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Motor Show 2024. First of all, I warmly welcome the delegates, distinguished guests, press agencies and all domestic and foreign enterprises to attend this solemn opening ceremony”.

Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai said that in the first months of 2024, with the support of the Government and the investment efforts of businesses, the Vietnamese automobile market has gradually stabilized. The source of imported and domestically produced cars is abundant, many new car models are launched, and car prices are decreasing rapidly.

The past years have marked the development of the Vietnamese automobile industry, when many factories were officially inaugurated and many new car models were launched. Currently, Vietnam has about 5 million cars. Of which, passenger cars account for 67%, equivalent to 50 cars/1000 people. However, this is still a very small number. For a market of nearly 100 million people, there is still a lot of room for the automobile industry to develop. Vietnam's per capita income has improved rapidly in the past 5 years and is constantly increasing, so the demand for owning cars and motorbikes will increase.

“In that optimistic context, the Vietnam Motor Show 2024, held in Ho Chi Minh City, will not only meet the needs of promoting products and technologies for businesses in the automobile and motorbike industry; but it will also be an annual meeting place for the public, customers and Vietnamese car enthusiasts to come and admire the latest creative achievements of car manufacturers,” said Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Nakano Keita, Chairman of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), emphasized: “Vietnam Motor Show 2024 is not only a gathering place for famous automobile and motorbike brands, but also a testament to the transformation of this industry in Vietnam. With a strong commitment to sustainable development, this year's event emphasizes green energy solutions, emission reduction and leading safety technology. We believe that, with the support from the Government and the efforts of businesses, Vietnam will make important strides in the journey to realizing the Net Zero goal by 2050”.

In 2024, Vietnam Motor Show 2024 will have a large scale and total space area, with the exhibition area alone reaching nearly 25,000 m2. In particular, this exhibition will promote unique performances and experiences such as feature experiences, demonstrations, and technology test drives. Along with enjoying the performances, visitors can also experience AR Filter technology that provides interactive experiences in virtual space and Bullet Time technology that captures memorable moments in a 360-degree frame.

In addition, a workshop with the theme “Reducing emissions from vehicles and converting green energy towards environmental protection” will also be held at 9:00-12:00, October 24, 2024 at Sunflower Room 2, 3rd Floor, SECC.

Vietnam Motor Show becomes a bridge between manufacturers and customers

Also on the opening day of Vietnam Motor Show, Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai said that since its first launch in 2002, Vietnam Motor Show has become a large-scale specialized automobile exhibition program in Vietnam. This is a prestigious and quality event, helping manufacturers, importers of genuine automobiles and motorbikes, supporting industry enterprises and related fields to approach potential customers, promote products, and at the same time contribute to promoting the development of Vietnam's automobile industry.

“I believe that with the careful preparation of the Organizing Committee, the active participation of businesses, the attention and support of state management agencies, television and press units and a large number of visitors, the Vietnam Motor Show 2024 will be a great success, affirming its position as the most anticipated auto and motorbike exhibition of the year,” said Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai.

In fact, Vietnam Motor Show started in 2002 and quickly became the largest event of the Vietnamese automobile industry. From the first years with a small scale, the exhibition has continuously expanded and innovated, reflecting the continuous development of the domestic market as well as global trends, especially electric vehicle technology and sustainable energy, and the industry supporting the automobile industry.

Over the past two decades, Vietnam Motor Show has become a symbol of the sustainable and innovative development of the Vietnamese automobile industry. This is not only a place for car manufacturers to affirm their names but also demonstrates the industry's commitment to accompanying Vietnam in achieving the goal of zero net emissions by 2050. This exhibition continues to be an important bridge between businesses and consumers, while opening up a green and sustainable transportation future for the domestic market.

Through many ups and downs, from brilliant periods to unforeseen challenges, Vietnam Motor Show has remained steadfast and continued to innovate to maintain its leading position, bringing the best experience to visitors.

Accompanying Vietnam Motor Show (VMS) through many seasons, Mr. Le Quoc Vinh, Chairman of Le Bros Company, the organizer of Vietnam Motor Show 2024, shared in-depth about the challenges and how the Organizing Committee has constantly innovated to make each exhibition creative and attractive to the public.

“The Vietnam Auto Show, organized by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), has been around for more than 20 years. This year marks the fourth collaboration between VAMA and the Vietnam Automobile Importers Group, and the first time it has been joined by the Vietnam Motorcycle Manufacturers Association,” said Mr. Le Quoc Vinh.

Since 2012, with the expanded participation of imported car manufacturers, the event has had the opportunity to approach and become one of the quite continuous partners with VMS. Car brands coordinate with each other, looking for new organizing partners, suitable for the breakthrough development situation.

“The Vietnamese automobile market is temporarily divided into two blocks – the domestic production and assembly block and the completely imported block. As the market becomes more vibrant, with the increasingly strong participation of completely imported automobile brands, and at the same time, more domestic manufacturers and assemblers appear, the requirements for organizers become more and more stringent, standards are raised, and especially the requirement for continuous innovation in technology as well as communication”, said Mr. Le Quoc Vinh.

Mr. Le Quoc Vinh commented that talking about cars means talking about technology. Therefore, besides demonstrating the latest car technologies, visitors also expect to have new technology experiences in the exhibition activities as well as technology applications in communication.
