Prime Minister visits ICI, promoting Vietnam-China innovation cooperation

According to him, the relationship between the two countries, built on trust, has created great opportunities for rapid and sustainable development for both countries through innovation. Vietnam and Romania also share similarities and strengths that can help them establish their position in the world .

Greeting everyone in Romanian, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh noted that the relationship between the two countries over the past 70 years has experienced both ups and downs, as well as breakthroughs. The Prime Minister mentioned that many Vietnamese who studied in Romania have grown into successful individuals, becoming doctors, professors, ministers, and managers in the construction and information technology sectors.

He recalled that during the period of promoting the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement, Romania played a decisive role in persuading EU countries to approve the agreement. Romania was also one of the first countries to ratify the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement. Thanks to this, bilateral trade between Vietnam and the EU has increased 2-3 times in recent years, even during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister suggested that the two sides discuss cooperation in information technology and artificial intelligence (AI), given that Romania has ICI and Vietnam already has a National Innovation Center (NIC).

Speaking of those positive aspects, the Prime Minister wanted to thank his "friend" Romania for its many past acts of assistance.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister suggested that the two sides discuss cooperation in information technology and artificial intelligence (AI), given that Romania has its ICI and Vietnam also has its National Innovation Center (NIC). "This will be a new growth engine helping Vietnam and Romania develop rapidly and sustainably," the Prime Minister stated.

The head of the Vietnamese government stated that the biggest obstacle currently between the two sides is geographical distance, but information technology and AI will overcome this obstacle by working indirectly instead of directly. "Time is limited today, but cooperation in information technology is limitless," the Prime Minister emphasized.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between ICI and the Vietnam National Institute of Digital Technology and Digital Transformation.

Sharing more about the specific sector, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Hong stated that banks are the lifeblood of the economy and therefore need to strongly promote digital transformation. The decisive factor in this, according to Ms. Hong, is information security and confidentiality.

She stated that she will be coordinating with the Ministry of Public Security to organize a conference on cybersecurity and security in the banking system, aiming to ensure the safety of users' assets.

Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security, also emphasized the importance of ensuring cybersecurity and protecting cybersecurity infrastructure. In addition, the Deputy Minister of Public Security mentioned cooperation in combating cybercrime. "Cross-border cooperation to combat cybercrime is very important," Mr. Quang said.

With the approval of the Prime Minister and the Director of ICI, Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang stated that the Director of the Cyber ​​Security Department of the Ministry of Public Security and the Director of the Center for Cybersecurity Infrastructure Protection of Vietnam will work specifically on this issue with their Romanian counterparts.

Following the meeting, the two sides exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between ICI and the Vietnam National Institute of Digital Technology and Digital Transformation.
