Prime Minister requests focus on overcoming consequences of serious mine accident in Quang Ninh

Telegram sent to the Minister of Industry and Trade ; Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises; Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province; Chairman of the Board of Members, General Director of Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group.

The dispatch stated: At about 7:20 p.m. on August 26, 2023, at the upper-layer transport furnace No. 3 (PT3) dug from the upper-layer transport ventilation furnace +50/+80 seam 5, Canh Ga well, mining workshop 3, Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company, Uong Bi city, Quang Ninh province, a serious mine accident occurred, killing 04 people. On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister sent his condolences to the relatives and families of the victims and gave the following instructions:

1. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province directed the organization of thoughtful visits, encouragement, and timely material and spiritual support to the victims' families; directed the functional forces to closely coordinate with the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group to focus on overcoming the consequences, stabilizing production, promptly investigating and clarifying the cause of the accident, clarifying the responsibilities of related organizations and individuals, and strictly handling violations (if any).

Directing to strengthen inspection and examination work, promptly detect and handle violations of labor safety regulations in production and business activities in the area, absolutely not allowing similar cases to occur.

2. The Ministry of Industry and Trade shall coordinate with the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises and the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group to closely review regulations, standards, and processes for mining and mine operations, promptly overcome limitations, and ensure absolute safety for workers, early and from a distance, especially in the current unusual weather conditions.

3. The State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises directs the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group to closely coordinate with the functional forces of Quang Ninh province to promptly overcome the consequences of the accident, promptly provide material and spiritual support to the victims' families and fully implement policies for the victims according to regulations; coordinate with the functional units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to review regulations, standards, mining and mine operation processes in the units under the Group, proactively find solutions according to assigned functions and tasks or propose competent authorities to issue regulations to overcome limitations, ensuring absolute safety for workers in production./.
