Sending off 12 martyrs who died in a drill to their final resting place

(NLĐO) - The sacrifice of the martyrs is an immense loss and sorrow for the army, Military Region 7, and the localities.


At noon on December 8th, at the National Funeral Home in the South (Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City), Military Region 7 held a memorial service for 12 martyrs who died while performing their duties during a training exercise on December 2nd, 2024. Representatives from central and local agencies, military and civilian personnel, citizens, and relatives of the martyrs attended the memorial service and bid farewell to the martyrs as they were laid to rest.

Commemorating the martyrs

At the memorial service, Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc, Standing Committee member of the Party Committee and Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 7, delivered the eulogy. He emphasized that the sacrifice of the martyrs was an immense loss and a source of profound sorrow for the army, Military Region 7, the provinces of Binh Thuan, Binh Duong , Dong Nai, and their families.

Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc delivered the eulogy.

According to Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc, the sacrifice of the martyrs demonstrated courage, determination, and a willingness to overcome difficulties, hardships, and dangers in carrying out training exercises; they were ready with combat plans to protect the peace of the Fatherland and the prosperous and happy lives of the people.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, Commander of Military Region 7 (right), and Lieutenant General Tran Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Military Region 7 (left), bid farewell to the fallen soldiers.

This sacrifice is a testament to the tradition of loyalty to the country and devotion to the people; it demonstrates the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era, who, regardless of the circumstances, do not shy away from difficulties, challenges, and dangers to fulfill the sacred duty of a soldier.

Bidding farewell to a fallen comrade as he is laid to rest.

"Twelve of our beloved soldiers have passed away forever at the tender age of twenty, full of life and aspirations, leaving behind immeasurable grief and sorrow that nothing can compensate for," shared Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc.

The martyrs will be buried in the martyrs' cemetery of their hometown.

According to Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc, the 12 martyrs were very young soldiers, in the prime of their lives; they set aside their ambitions and dreams to enlist in the army, fulfilling their sacred duty as citizens to the Fatherland. The martyrs were always shining examples in their work, studies, and training. With their simple, friendly lifestyles and selfless dedication to their comrades, they were always deeply loved and respected by the officers and soldiers of their unit, as well as their friends and relatives.

According to Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense , the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the Command of Military Region 7; the Party committees, the government, the people of the localities and all officers and soldiers share the immense and irreplaceable loss with the families of the martyrs.

Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc respectfully hopes that the families of the martyrs will overcome their grief and loss to continue striving forward, worthy of the heroic sacrifices of the martyrs.

Bringing the fallen soldiers back to their hometowns.

The armed forces of Military Region 7 pledge to diligently study and emulate the heroic sacrifices of the martyrs, upholding their determination; together with the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army, to successfully carry out the task of building and firmly defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern army, and excellently fulfilling all assigned tasks. They will continue to perform even better in combat during peacetime, protecting the peaceful and happy lives of the people for whom their comrades fought and sacrificed.
