Receiving wild animals for care and rescue.

On July 29th, information from the Wildlife Rescue, Conservation and Development Center (Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Quang Tri province) indicated that the unit had received 4 wild animals handed over by local authorities for care and rescue.

Accordingly, the Center received 4 individuals of wildlife, including: 1 bordered mountain tortoise from the People's Committee of Hoa Trach commune; 1 slow loris from the Cam Lo-Dong Ha Forest Ranger Station; 1 short-tailed monkey from the People's Committee of Quang Ninh commune and 1 pig-tailed macaque from the People's Committee of Tan Gianh commune.

Reportedly, at the time of reception, the bordered mountain tortoise weighed 2.4kg and was in poor health; the slow loris weighed approximately 0.25kg and showed signs of head injury; the short-tailed monkey weighed 9kg and had a decline in wild behavior; and the pig-tailed macaque weighed 1.5kg and was in poor health.

Immediately upon receiving them, the Center promptly conducted initial health checks, isolated and monitored the animals, and developed appropriate treatment protocols to ensure the best possible recovery for these wild animals.

All of these wild animals belong to the category of endangered, rare, and precious species as stipulated in Government Decree No. 84/2021/ND-CP on the management of endangered, rare, and precious forest plants and animals and the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Animals and Plants.
