Receiving wild animals for care and rescue

On July 29, information from the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Living Creatures (Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Quang Tri province) said that the unit had received 4 wild animals (WI) handed over by local authorities for care and rescue.

Accordingly, the Center received 4 wild animals, including: 1 mountain turtle from Hoa Trach Commune People's Committee; 1 small loris from Cam Lo-Dong Ha Forest Protection Department; 1 monkey from Quang Ninh Commune People's Committee and 1 pig-tailed monkey from Tan Gianh Commune People's Committee.

It is known that at the time of reception, the mountain tortoise weighed 2.4 kg and was in poor health; the small loris weighed about 0.25 kg and showed signs of head trauma; the monkey weighed 9 kg and had reduced wild habits; and the pig-tailed macaque weighed 1.5 kg and was in poor health.

Immediately after receiving the animals, the Center promptly conducted initial health checks, quarantined them, monitored them, and developed appropriate treatment regimens to ensure the best recovery for these wild animals.

The above wildlife individuals are all on the list of endangered, precious and rare species stipulated in Decree No. 84/2021/ND-CP of the Government on management of endangered, precious and rare forest plants and animals and implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
