General Secretary of the Communist Party of Switzerland receives A prize in the competition to protect the Party's ideological foundation.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Switzerland Massimiliano Ay, Professor Dr. Li Kaihuan (Institute of Marxist Studies, China) and Vietnamese authors received the A prize in the 5th Political Essay Competition on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in 2025.

The award ceremony of the 5th Political Contest on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in 2025 took place solemnly on the evening of October 22 in Hanoi , with the participation of President Luong Cuong and Standing Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu.

Former Con Dao prisoners, students and General Secretary of the Swiss Communist Party honored

General Secretary of the Swiss Communist Party Massimiliano Ay and Professor Ly Khai Hoan were not present in Hanoi to receive the award.

The contest is directed by the Central Steering Committee 35, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics presided over and coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department, Central Theoretical Council, etc. to organize.

In addition to the A prize for the two foreign authors, the contest's organizing committee also awarded the A prize to: Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Tuan - Political Commissar of the Political Officer School, Ministry of National Defense; author Nguyen Chi Khoa (General Staff, Command 86, Ministry of National Defense), author Nguyen Van Hanh (Academy of Journalism and Propaganda, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics); a group of authors from the Thai Nguyen Provincial Military Command, Military Region 1, Ministry of National Defense.

And author Nguyen Ba Thanh (Electronic Information Portal of the Political Department of the Vietnam Coast Guard, Ministry of National Defense); author Nguyen Anh Phap (Army Radio and Television Center); group of authors of the News Department of the Voice of Vietnam.

The Organizing Committee awarded 23 second prizes, 36 third prizes, 66 consolation prizes; 20 promising prizes to union members and youths with high-quality entries; 20 prizes to units and localities with good results in organizing the competition at the grassroots and central levels.

The competition's steering committee has awards for the elderly author (Mr. Le Quang Vinh - 90 years old, former prisoner of Con Dao); and the outstanding young author - a group of students from Da Nang Secondary School (Hai Phong City).

Protecting the Party's ideological foundation in a special year

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the contest, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang - Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Head of the Contest Steering Committee - said that this year's contest has a very special meaning.

In the context of preparing and organizing Party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party and implementing the Party's strategic policies, this year's contest is truly a practical activity contributing to arousing and strengthening patriotism, national pride, and development aspirations in every cadre, Party member and people.

This is reflected in the wide spread of the contest, with 541,766 entries (an increase of 73,000 entries compared to 2024).

This year's entries focus on protecting and disseminating new content in draft documents of Party congresses at all levels and documents of the 14th National Party Congress; important political and historical events of the country; policies and strategic decisions of the Central Government, especially the revolution of streamlining the political system apparatus and building two-level local governments...

Many localities and units have proactively created high-quality works, both to participate in the contest and to serve the propaganda to protect the Party's ideological foundation in the press, media and cyberspace.

Notably, this year's contest has the participation of a number of foreign scholars and politicians, such as the General Secretary of the Swiss Communist Party, a number of leading Marxist research experts from major research institutes in China, and officials from the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration...

In his speech directing and launching the 2026 contest, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia said that the past 5 years have shown that the contest is truly a broad political activity within the entire Party, army and people; an effective and creative way to gather forces and build a "people's hearts" position in protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

He hopes and believes that the contest will continue to innovate both in content and form, closely following the increasingly high requirements of practice to better and more effectively serve the political tasks of the Party, State as well as of agencies, units and localities.
