General Secretary To Lam expressed his delight at the positive developments in the Vietnam-UK relationship in recent times; affirming that the strategic partnership is increasingly substantive and effective in all areas. The General Secretary highly appreciated the Ambassador's role, emphasizing that the two countries still have much potential for cooperation, especially in defense - security, finance, education , science - technology, energy, climate change, culture, sports and people-to-people exchange.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State always attach importance to and pay special attention to further strengthening and bringing the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership to a new stage of development.

Ambassador Iain Frew thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to receive him, affirming that the UK considers Vietnam a leading important partner in the region and wishes to promote substantive cooperation in defense, science and technology, innovation, international finance, green growth and tourism.
