The General Secretary highly appreciated the Ambassador's role, emphasizing that the two countries still have much potential for cooperation, especially in defense - security, finance, education , science - technology, energy, climate change, culture, sports and people-to-people exchange.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State always attach importance to and pay special attention to further strengthening and bringing the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership to a new stage of development.
Ambassador Iain Frew thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to receive him, affirming that the UK considers Vietnam a leading important partner in the region and wishes to promote substantive cooperation in defense, science and technology, innovation, international finance, green growth and tourism.
