Meanwhile, the United Nations (UN) is calling for the military conflict in Ukraine not to become the “new normal.” On June 14, the UN Permanent Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Ukraine, Denise Brown, urged against “normalizing” the dire conditions currently faced by the Ukrainian people amid escalating conflict.
Speaking to reporters in Geneva, Switzerland, ahead of the Ukraine peace conference, Denise Brown said that Russian forces have increased the number of attacks on Ukraine's Kharkiv region, causing casualties and destroying critical infrastructure over the past two months. The UN official urged that this situation should not be considered the "new normal."

On June 14, UN spokesperson Farhan Haq stated that the world's largest multilateral organization desires a peaceful solution to the Ukraine issue based on the UN Charter, relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly, and in accordance with international law.

Other conditions for negotiations included Ukraine officially abandoning its plans to join NATO, declaring neutrality, non-alignment, and denuclearization. The Ukrainian President's office rejected this peace proposal.
