In his nightly video address, Zelenskyy said Ukraine had made progress in developing electronic weapons, "but there is still much work to be done to counter Russian bombs."
He said: "Ukraine needs systems and tactics to help protect its positions, cities, and communities from these bombs. These are Russia's main tools in its attacks."

Zelenskyy has long called for improved air defenses as Russia intensifies attacks on Ukrainian power plants and other infrastructure. Earlier this month, Zelenskyy said Russia had used more than 3,200 guided bombs against Ukrainian targets throughout April, along with more than 300 missiles and around 300 Shahed drones.
Russia is increasingly using these types of bombs, which are guided to their targets by guidance systems, have greater destructive power, and pose less risk to the crews operating them.
In his comments, Zelenskyy added that four countries – Albania, Austria, Chile and Mozambique – had agreed to attend a " peace summit" in Switzerland in June with the aim of demanding that Russia agree to a peaceful resolution.
Zelenskyy's peace plan calls for Russia to withdraw all its forces and restore Ukraine's 1991 borders.
Russia, which rejected the plan, refused to attend the June meeting and considered any discussion of the conflict without its participation to be pointless.
