On August 14, Gia Lai Provincial Police said that their functional forces had just successfully dismantled a large-scale production and consumption ring of fake pesticides and herbicides.

The Investigation Police Agency of Gia Lai Province Police has initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Nguyen Thai Hoc (41 years old) and Dam Viet Hoang (40 years old, both residing in Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province) to investigate the crime of "producing and consuming counterfeit goods" which are herbicides and pesticides.

Previously, the Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police coordinated with Pleiku City Police to discover a large quantity of herbicides with signs of counterfeit brands and labels at 4 warehouses of Nguyen Thai Hoc in Chu A Commune, An Phu Commune and Chi Lang Ward (Pleiku City).

Through inspection, the police determined that there were more than 4,800 jars of herbicides and pesticides with many brands and 11 machines for production and packaging. In addition, there were 107 bags of raw materials weighing more than 2.6 tons.

At the investigation agency, Nguyen Thai Hoc confessed that he proactively contacted contacts in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and some northern provinces to buy raw materials, print labels, transport them to Pleiku City, then hire people to mix, jar, and label them for consumption.

After packaging, Hoc colluded with other individuals inside and outside Gia Lai province to sell the counterfeit products and post them for sale on social networking sites. In addition, Hoc also hired people to go to pesticide dealers to solicit and sell wholesale.

In this case, Dam Viet Hoang was the one who mixed the ingredients, bottled, labeled, and delivered the goods. At the time of his arrest, Hoang confessed to having mixed and packaged 20,000 jars of herbicides and pesticides.
