On August 14th, the Gia Lai Provincial Police announced that their forces had successfully dismantled a large-scale ring producing and distributing counterfeit pesticides and herbicides.

The Gia Lai Provincial Police Investigation Agency has initiated a criminal case, charged and temporarily detained Nguyen Thai Hoc (41 years old) and Dam Viet Hoang (40 years old, both residing in Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province) for investigation into the crime of "producing and distributing counterfeit goods," specifically herbicides and pesticides.

Previously, the Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police, in coordination with the Pleiku City Police, discovered a large quantity of herbicides with suspected counterfeit labels and stamps at four warehouses belonging to Nguyen Thai Hoc in Chu A commune, An Phu commune, and Chi Lang ward (Pleiku City).

Upon inspection, the police discovered more than 4,800 jars of herbicides and pesticides of various brands, along with 11 machines used for production and packaging. In addition, they found 107 bags of raw materials weighing over 2.6 tons.

During the investigation, Nguyen Thai Hoc confessed that he had proactively contacted contacts in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi , and several northern provinces to purchase raw materials, print labels, and transport them to Pleiku City. There, he hired people to mix, bottle, and label the products for sale.

After packaging, Hoc colluded with several individuals inside and outside Gia Lai province to sell the counterfeit products, posting them for sale on social media. In addition, Hoc hired people to approach pesticide dealers to offer and sell wholesale.

In this case, Dam Viet Hoang was responsible for mixing the ingredients, bottling, labeling, and delivering the products. By the time of his arrest, Hoang confessed to having mixed and packaged 20,000 bottles of herbicide and pesticide.
