"Based on the shape of the drone, the estimated flight time, the leaflet-dropping box attached to the lower part of the drone's fuselage... it is very likely that this drone was the one that dropped leaflets in downtown Pyongyang. But the conclusion has not been made yet," wrote the North Korean news agency KCNA.

The remains of a crashed drone are shown in this photo released by North Korea's KCNA news agency on October 19.

The South Korean government has previously refused to say whether it uses such drones and if so whether they are operated by the military or civilians. It said commenting on the North's claims would be tainted by conspiracy, according to AFP.

"...if an act of violating the DPRK's land, air and sea territory by South Korean military measures is detected and confirmed again, it will be regarded as a grave military provocation against the sovereignty of the DPRK and a declaration of war, and an immediate retaliatory strike will be launched," KCNA added.

North Korea blows up cross-border road, South Korean military fires warning shots

There is no word yet on South Korea's response to the new warning from North Korea. On October 14, spokesman Lee Seong-joon of the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said at a press conference: "Our military is closely monitoring the situation and is ready to respond to North Korea's provocations."

Tensions between North and South Korea have escalated since North Korea began launching balloons carrying trash across the border into South Korea in late May, with Seoul responding by restarting propaganda broadcasts through loudspeakers, angering Pyongyang, according to AFP.
