On the morning of September 12th, the University of Science (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) held its opening ceremony for the 2025-2026 academic year, welcoming over 4,500 new students from 34 provinces and cities nationwide.

Among them, many new students possess outstanding achievements such as winning high prizes at international Olympiads, national excellent student competitions, national science and technology competitions, along with excellent academic results in high school.
This new academic year also marks an important milestone for the school with the launch of new training programs: Educational Technology, Land Economics and Statistics, expanding learning and research opportunities for students.
In particular, in 2025, the university will allocate approximately 22 billion VND in scholarships for new students who achieve high scores in the regular university entrance examination.
Many scholarships are worth up to 320 million VND, equivalent to the full tuition fee for four years of study. In addition to scholarships from the university, students also receive support from partners and alumni to encourage their studies, research, and personal development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Tran Le Quan, Rector of the University of Science, noted that in the digital age, students should cultivate a proactive and creative learning spirit, knowing how to utilize the power of technology and exploit open sources of knowledge, but at the same time being vigilant in selecting and verifying information to avoid falling into the chaos of the online space. They should strive to become responsible, ethical, and dedicated citizens.
In the 2024-2025 academic year, the University of Science had over 1,450 internationally published scientific papers (as of January 2024), its students and faculty won numerous prestigious awards, and the ICPC HCMUS-AtCoder programming team reached the top 32 in the world – the highest achievement in 12 years of participating in the World Finals.
Simultaneously, the school continuously upgrades its facilities, expands scholarships, and implements numerous programs to support students' well-being and mental health so that they can study well, live well, and be happier.
