Ho Chi Minh City Open University plans to enroll 4 new majors

This year, Ho Chi Minh City Open University plans to reserve 20% of its quota for considering scores from competency assessment exams.

In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City Open University plans to have 3 groups of admission methods including: admission methods according to the general plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, admission methods according to the school's plan and the group considering the scores of competency assessment exams. Master Tran Le Trong Phuc, Deputy Head of Training Department, said that this year the school plans to enroll 4 new majors including: insurance, financial technology, artificial intelligence and high-quality auditing.

Group 1 is the admission methods according to the general plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, applied to 40% of the quota, including 2 admission methods:

Method 1: Direct admission, priority admission according to the school's admission regulations and the Ministry of Education and Training.

Method 2: Admission based on high school graduation exam results in 2024.

Group 2 is the methods according to the school's own admission plan (applied to 40% of the target). The admission methods in order of priority are specified in the school's own plan.

Method 1: Priority is given to candidates with an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma with a score of 26 or higher; A-Level international certificate from the Cambridge University Examination Center (UK) with a score of 3 subjects (or higher) ensuring a score of C or higher in each subject; SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test, USA) standardized test results with a score of 1,100/1,600.

Method 2: Priority is given to admission of excellent high school students in the following order: Excellent students of specialized high schools/key high schools (referred to as group 1) with international foreign language certificates according to regulations; excellent remaining high school students (referred to as group 2) with international foreign language certificates according to regulations; excellent high school students of specialized high schools/key high schools; excellent remaining high school students.

Method 3: Priority is given to high school transcripts with international language certificates.

Method 4: Admission based on high school transcripts.

In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City Open University plans to enroll 4 new majors including: insurance, financial technology, artificial intelligence and high-quality auditing.

Group 3 is the admission method based on the capacity assessment test scores with 20% of the target. Accordingly, the school considers the results of the capacity assessment test of Ho Chi Minh City National University and the 2024 computer-based university entrance assessment test of the schools that have signed an agreement with Ho Chi Minh City Open University.

In 2023, 4 universities in Ho Chi Minh City signed an agreement to recognize and use the results of 2 separate computer-based competency assessment exams organized by Ho Chi Minh City Banking University and Saigon University. Specifically, they include: University of Finance and Marketing, Saigon University, Ho Chi Minh City Open University and Ho Chi Minh City Banking University. Accordingly, the schools agreed to recognize and use the results of 2 university entrance assessment exams for admission. The two exams are similar in terms of organization, test structure, and are both conducted on computers.

In 2023, the benchmark score of Ho Chi Minh City Open University for the admission of excellent students in some majors is from 28 and above, such as: marketing, international business.
