Specifically, Nguyen Khuyen High School (formerly Dien Ban town, old Quang Nam province; now An Thang ward, Da Nang city) is behind in paying a total of more than 474 million VND in insurance money.

Of which, the amount owed for social insurance, occupational accident and disease insurance is 400.87 million VND; health insurance debt is more than 42.63 million VND; unemployment insurance is 30.86 million VND. Interest due to late payment is calculated as 203,045 VND.

Notably, this is a public unit, using the state budget to pay salaries and insurance for its staff. Therefore, being "named" in the list of units with large and prolonged insurance debts makes many people worried.

Speaking to VietNamNet reporters on the afternoon of August 5, Mr. Vo Anh Tai, Principal of Nguyen Khuyen High School, confirmed the incident and said that this was not a long-standing debt. The reason was that the school had just transferred its accountant, so the new accountant was reviewing all the teachers' insurance records before making the payment.

“The accountant should have paid the insurance on time and then reviewed it, if there was a shortage, he would have added it, if there was a surplus, he would have carried it over to the following month. But because the new accountant wanted to review the entire file, it led to a 2-month delay in payment and an interest charge of more than VND200,000,” said Mr. Tai.

Currently, Nguyen Khuyen High School has 68 staff and 2 contract workers. The school's leadership confirmed that they have asked the accounting department to urgently work with the insurance agency to complete the procedures to pay the full amount owed.
