Prof. Bilveer Singh, National University of Singapore (NUS), said that Singapore wants to promote cooperation in developing the digital economy within the ASEAN framework, especially with Vietnam.

To develop the digital economy, Professor Bilveer Singh said, Vietnam needs to continue to improve the legal system in areas such as e-commerce and digital services, while preparing quality human resources.

"Vietnam is developing very rapidly. I hope that Singapore and Vietnam can cooperate closely in the field of digital economy at this time, as committed by the two countries' senior leaders, because this model has great potential and bright prospects in the future," Professor Bilveer Singh expected.

Sharing the same view, Professor Vu Minh Khuong from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy observed that the characteristic of the digital economy is its rapid development thanks to science and technology. Vietnam also has a huge human resource in information technology, so further promoting cooperation with Singapore will bring great development momentum to both countries.

In fact, Vietnam and Singapore are actively implementing cooperation in various fields to promote the Green Economic Partnership and digital economy.

Speaking at a webinar on March 4 on the Vietnam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership organized by the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam said that the two countries have expanded their bilateral partnership in new areas, especially cooperation in renewable energy, food, infrastructure, digital economy and innovation.

These are areas of cooperation being implemented within the framework of the Digital Economy - Green Economy Partnership.

Through this framework, the two countries can support each other in addressing common challenges and can play an important role in ASEAN. The S-shaped country and the Lion Island are at a significant historical moment in their bilateral relations, as both countries have new leadership.

Regarding green economy, Ambassador Jaya Ratnam emphasized: "Singapore considers Vietnam an important destination in the ASEAN energy network, thanks to Vietnam's great potential in the field of renewable energy.

The S-shaped country is not only capable of supplying energy to Singapore but also to many other ASEAN countries.

Both countries are aiming to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, with energy products from Vietnam playing an important role in achieving this goal. In addition to energy exports, Vietnam also has the conditions to build energy production and service facilities."

Professor Vu Minh Khuong also assessed that Singapore is also a potential market for food products.

Strengthening cooperation in this field will not only help Singapore ensure food security but also help Vietnam export to many countries around the world, as Singapore has a lot of experience in international trade.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh suggested that it is necessary to continue to encourage more Singaporean investment in high-tech, renewable energy and digital transformation industries in Vietnam, while creating conditions for Vietnamese businesses to expand their operations in Singapore.

Besides, the two sides need to expand cooperation in the fields of education, culture and tourism to enhance mutual understanding and promote long-term friendship between the two peoples.
