On the afternoon of June 22nd, the Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 1 (Team 1, Road Traffic Control Guidance Department, Traffic Police Department) announced that they are verifying a video showing a passenger bus encroaching on the opposite lane and blocking a truck on the highway; the truck driver was then assaulted.
Accordingly, the video, recorded by a truck's dashcam, shows a passenger bus with a Lao Cai license plate repeatedly swerving into the opposite lane and weaving erratically. The incident occurred on a two-lane highway with a solid line prohibiting overtaking.
After a long, erratic journey, the passenger bus stopped, blocking the road. Three men got out of the bus, carrying long sticks, and approached the truck's cabin, assaulting the driver. Although the truck driver had backed inside, he was dragged out, verbally abused, and beaten.
Initial verification indicates the incident occurred at approximately 9:23 AM on June 22nd at Km216 of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway. The two vehicles involved were a passenger bus with license plate 24B-009.19 and a truck with license plate 24C-051.65.
Team 1 is currently coordinating with the Bao Thang District Police (Lao Cai) to clarify the incident and will handle it strictly according to regulations.
