It is followed by two equally famous tourist destinations in Vietnam, Phong Nha and Ninh Binh. Booking also announced the 10 friendliest destinations in the world in 2024, including Arraial d'Ajuda Brazil, Ermoupoli Greece, Viana do Castelo Portugal, Daylesford Australia, Grindelwald Switzerland, Moab USA, Uzes France, Mazatlán Mexico, Jaisalmer India and Fujikawaguchiko Japan. In 2023, Ninh Binh is the only representative of Vietnam in this top and ranked 7th.

In addition to destinations, the booking application in the Netherlands also announced that hotels are the leading accommodation type in terms of friendliness in Vietnam. In recent years, tourists have tended to look for new and unique types of accommodation to replace the traditional hotel model. Vietnam is no exception. However, hotels are still the type of accommodation in Vietnam that domestic and foreign tourists rate as the “friendliest”, followed by apartments for rent, homestays, luxury resort apartments and finally motels. Tourist reviews also show that they increasingly appreciate the hospitality provided by providers.

Worldwide, the rental apartment model continues to hold the top position as the most highly rated accommodation type, followed by resort villas, hotels, motels and B&B (bed and breakfast, a small, cheap accommodation type that provides overnight accommodation with breakfast).

The Traveller Review Award is an annual award that has been held for the past 12 years. According to Varun Grover, Country Director of Booking Vietnam, the award aims to recognize the efforts to provide excellent services and attentive service of nearly 1.5 million travel partners in 221 countries and territories. Of which, more than 11,360 partners are accommodation establishments in Vietnam. The rankings in this award are based on 309 million authentic reviews from experts and travelers.

The criteria for ranking destinations are based on memorable travel experiences, beautiful scenery, worthy of being the top choice when traveling, along with hospitality, the number of accommodations certified as “friendly” by Booking. Hanoi is the destination with the most friendly accommodations in Vietnam, followed by Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat.

The order of the destinations in the rankings is arranged according to the ratio of the accommodation facilities that have received the award compared to the total number of accommodation facilities at that destination. To be certified, facilities must have an average review score of 8/10, with 3 or more reviews by 11:50 p.m. on 30 November 2023. Only those who have booked a room can review the accommodation where they stayed; comments cannot be edited after posting to ensure objectivity.
