Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, representatives of embassies of ASEAN member countries, especially representatives of the Embassy of Timor Leste, an upcoming member of ASEAN, and diplomatic corps from many countries in Thailand attended the ceremony and participated in this meaningful event.
In her opening remarks, Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa said that the combination of the flag-raising ceremony and the running event was meant to encourage the broad participation of the public, diplomatic corps and Thai people in a meaningful exchange activity, demonstrating the ASEAN spirit.
The Minister also expressed pride that Thailand was one of the founding members of ASEAN 58 years ago and that he personally became part of the “ASEAN family” since its inception.
The Thai Foreign Minister stressed that the event and the large presence of delegates were proof that ASEAN is not just about meetings or diplomatic protocols, but also a symbol of the spirit of moving forward. He also expressed his hope that this year's celebration will add momentum to the continuation of the friendship and close cooperation of the ASEAN Community in the coming time.
As one of the "runners" of the ASEAN Family Run 2025, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung highly appreciated the meaningful initiative of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs in organizing the "ASEAN Family Run" event to celebrate the 58th anniversary of ASEAN. This is not only a sports activity, but also an opportunity for diplomatic officials and families of member countries to show the spirit of solidarity, attachment and sharing in the ASEAN family.

According to Ambassador Pham Viet Hung, 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Vietnam's official accession to ASEAN - an integration journey full of effort and responsibility. Participating in this event is also a way for Vietnam to demonstrate its strong commitment to the core values of the ASEAN Community: "One Vision, One Identity, One Community."
The Ambassador shared: “Through this event, we are together conveying the message of a dynamic, close and sustainable ASEAN - where friendship and cooperation are nurtured not only at the negotiating table but also in daily life," and expressed his belief that with the spirit of solidarity and common determination, Vietnam will continue to make positive contributions to an increasingly cohesive and developing ASEAN for peace , stability and common prosperity of the whole region./.
