Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, representatives from the embassies of ASEAN member countries, especially representatives from the Embassy of Timor Leste, a soon-to-be ASEAN member, and diplomatic corps from many countries in Thailand attended the ceremony and participated in this significant event.
In his opening remarks, Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa stated that combining the flag-raising ceremony and the running event was intended to encourage broad participation from the public, diplomatic corps, and Thai people in a meaningful exchange activity, reflecting the ASEAN spirit.
The Minister also expressed pride that Thailand was one of the founding members of ASEAN 58 years ago and that he personally has been a part of the "ASEAN family" since its inception.
The Thai Foreign Minister emphasized that the event and the large attendance of delegates demonstrate that ASEAN is not just about meetings or diplomatic formalities, but also a symbol of a forward-thinking spirit. He also expressed his hope that this year's celebration will further fuel the continued strong friendship and cooperation of the ASEAN Community in the future.
As one of the runners in the ASEAN Family Run 2025, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, Pham Viet Hung, highly appreciated the meaningful initiative of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs in organizing the "ASEAN Family Run" event, commemorating the 58th anniversary of ASEAN's founding. This is not only a sporting event, but also an opportunity for diplomatic staff and their families from member countries to together demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, closeness, and sharing within the ASEAN family.

According to Ambassador Pham Viet Hung, 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Vietnam's official accession to ASEAN – a journey of integration filled with effort and responsibility. Participating in this event is also a way for Vietnam to demonstrate its strong commitment to the core values of the ASEAN Community: "One Vision, One Identity, One Community."
The Ambassador shared: “Through this event, we are together conveying the message of a dynamic, close-knit, and sustainable ASEAN – where friendship and cooperation are nurtured not only at the negotiating table but also in daily life,” while expressing confidence that with a spirit of solidarity and shared determination, Vietnam will continue to make positive contributions to an increasingly cohesive and developed ASEAN for the peace , stability, and common prosperity of the entire region.
