Regarding the incident where a tree was uprooted and fell on a pedestrian in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, on October 8th, information from Children's Hospital 2 indicated that the patient, LBY (6 years old, District 4, Ho Chi Minh City), was admitted to the emergency room at 7:31 PM on October 7th after being crushed by a falling tree while walking with family members. The child was admitted with pale lips and a fracture of the lower third of the radius of the right forearm.
Currently, the child is on high-parameter mechanical ventilation, high-dose vasopressors, vital signs are unstable, and shock treatment and blood product transfusions are ongoing. Ultrasound examination revealed "large right pleural effusion, heterogeneous structure of the upper pole of the spleen, subcapsular splenic fluid accumulation, suspected splenic trauma; subcapsular hepatic fluid accumulation, large amount of ascites with echogenicity, suspected hemoperitoneum".

The child was diagnosed with traumatic shock - multiple injuries due to a traffic accident (being crushed by a tree), including liver and spleen injuries, lung contusion, right pleural effusion, and a fracture of the lower third of the right radius.
After a hospital-wide consultation, it was decided to perform exploratory thoracotomy and abdominoplasty to assess the perforation of hollow organs and control bleeding.
Why is Ho Chi Minh City experiencing heavy rain and thunder?
Besides the aforementioned child, Saigon General Hospital received 3 other patients, one of whom, in mild condition, requested to be discharged. The other two patients include a 47-year-old male and a 45-year-old female. The male patient suffered a closed fracture of the left acromion and hypertension. He is currently stable, conscious, and has requested discharge.
The female patient suffered multiple injuries, including contusion and laceration of the lower segment 6 of the liver, fractures of ribs 4-12, and a small amount of left pleural effusion. Currently, the patient is stable and conscious and has been transferred to People's Hospital 115 for further treatment.
Previously, as reported by Thanh Nien newspaper, during a rain shower on the afternoon of October 7th, a 10-meter-tall tree in District 1 (Ho Chi Minh City) unexpectedly uprooted and fell, hitting four pedestrians. The victims were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
