Charged with murder while on bail in another case

On the afternoon of May 19, the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police announced that it had just served the decisions to prosecute the case and prosecute the accused for murder.

The Investigation Police Agency of Da Nang City Police issued an order to temporarily detain Nguyen Phuoc Hieu (18 years old, residing in Thanh Khe Tay Ward, Thanh Khe District, Da Nang City) for murder. Hieu was prosecuted and detained while on bail in another case.

Previously, at around 9:00 a.m. on October 24, 2022, Mr. NLHT (residing in Hoa Minh Ward) and Mr. PAK (both 20 years old, residing in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District) were sitting at a coffee shop on Moc Bai 1 Street, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward when Tran Thanh Liem (residing in Dai Phong Commune, Dai Loc District, Quang Nam ) drove a motorbike carrying Nguyen Phuoc Nguyen (both 18 years old, residing in Xuan Ha Ward, Thanh Khe District) to the shop.

Seeing Liem revving his motorbike's exhaust, Mr. T. said, "Your exhaust is too loud. Watch out, or I'll take it off." Liem turned off the engine, then went in to drink coffee with Nguyen.

Thinking that Mr. T. looked at him "provocatively", Liem was angry and called Duong Phuc Chuong (18 years old, residing in Thanh Khe Tay Ward, Thanh Khe District) to ask him to beat Mr. T. Chuong invited Nguyen Hong Hao Quang (18 years old, residing in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward) and Nguyen Phuoc Hieu to come and help.

Hieu committed the crime while he was on bail in another case.

When Mr. T. was about to pay and leave, he was "questioned" by Liem and Hieu's group for looking provocatively and beating Mr. T. Although he fell down on the chair and was no longer able to fight back, each member of Hieu's group took an iron chair and rushed in to beat Mr. T. repeatedly on the head and body, until the victim collapsed on the spot.

As a result, Mr. T. suffered multiple injuries. According to Lien Chieu District Police, although Mr. T.'s injury was only 6%, the use of an iron chair with high lethality, hitting vital areas of the body such as the head and chest, could have led to death... so the investigation agency initiated a prosecution for murder.

Before participating in the brutal beating, on February 17, 2022, Nguyen Phuoc Hieu was prosecuted by Dien Ban Town Police (Quang Nam) for disturbing public order in Dien Thang Commune, Dien Ban Town but was released on bail. Regarding Hieu's accomplices involved in the above murder, the investigation agency is continuing to consolidate the case file for handling.
