The two early matches of the 2023 National Cup Quarterfinals, played on the evening of July 10th, with Topenland Binh Dinh – Ha Tinh and Thanh Hoa – Phu Dong, concluded with victories for the home teams.

The match at Quy Nhon Stadium was predicted to be evenly matched, with both teams familiar with each other in terms of personnel and playing style. Despite playing away, Ha Tinh started confidently, adopting a tight, defensive counter-attacking style. This approach had previously helped Coach Nguyen Thanh Cong's team defeat Binh Dinh in their first encounter of the 2023 V-League season. Because the visitors played with a low defensive line, Binh Dinh had little difficulty controlling the game. In the 5th minute, the home team nearly scored when Van Thanh's shot hit the post and went wide.

Without further delay, in the 11th minute, Binh Dinh opened the scoring with a quick and accurate shot from Van Thanh inside the penalty area. In the 44th minute, the home team doubled their lead with a close-range tap-in by Rafaelson after goalkeeper Thanh Tung failed to punch the ball away.

The second half was fairly evenly matched, with Ha Tinh having several opportunities to equalize but failing to capitalize. In the 70th minute, the visitors were reduced to ten men when Van Hanh received a red card after fouling Rafaelson. Despite this, Ha Tinh continued to push forward in attack for the remainder of the match, hoping to find an equalizer.

Thanh Hoa eliminated another First Division team to advance to the semi-finals.

In the 83rd minute, hope returned to Ha Tinh when center-back Adriano Schmidt fouled Quang Nam of Ha Tinh, the referee awarded the visitors a penalty, and Diallo converted it to reduce the score to 1-2. Ha Tinh increased the pressure in the remaining time but unfortunately they did not score any more goals, and had to stop at a 1-2 defeat.

With this victory, Binh Dinh advanced to the semi-finals and will face the winner of the Viettel – Nam Dinh match. In the other semi-final, Thanh Hoa defeated Phu Dong 1-0 after Thanh Binh scored from a penalty in the 38th minute.
