Mr. Luong Tam Quang was born on October 17, 1965, in Hiep Cuong commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province. He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal investigation.
Mr. Luong Tam Quang has a long-standing connection with and career within the police force. Prior to 2012, he served as a secretary to a leader at the Ministry of Public Security. In 2012, he rose to the rank of colonel and held the position of Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security.
In 2015, Mr. Quang was promoted to the rank of Major General. By October 2017, he held the position of Chief of Staff and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security.
In 2019, Mr. Luong Tam Quang was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed as Deputy Minister of Public Security. He also served as the Head of the Security Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security (from May 2020).
In January 2021, at the 13th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Luong Tam Quang was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Party for the 2021-2026 term. A year later, he was promoted to the rank of General.
On June 6, 2024, at the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly , the National Assembly approved the appointment of Mr. Luong Tam Quang as Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term, as proposed by the Government.
On August 16, 2024, at the 13th Central Committee meeting of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Central Committee elected Mr. Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, as an additional member of the Politburo of the 13th Party Congress.
