However, many of them admit that this job is not as "easy" as they imagined.
Tired of office work… go build canals.
After four years working in media with a decent salary in Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Mai (26 years old) decided to quit her job to build her TikTok channel.
Mai shared that she felt bored sitting in an office for eight hours a day. "At that time, I thought that my appearance was an advantage for creating content, and I wanted a freelance job with a high income," Mai recounted.
After more than a year of trying to make fashion videos, I still only have a handful of viewers. All my savings have gone into buying equipment for TikTok and purchasing products to review.
Mai is currently planning to look for a job again.
In a similar situation, Anh Vu (31 years old) quit his job with a monthly salary of 15 million VND at a travel company to explore the possibility of building canals.
Vu searched for many online courses, bought books and study materials.
But when he started working on it, all that knowledge proved useless. Currently, to pursue his dream, Vu is having to sell some of his equipment to fund the channel.
Recently, at an event in Da Nang where young people met with a famous TikToker, hundreds of young people expressed their desire to become famous on social media platforms, especially TikTok.

Many factors are needed.
Nguyen Hai Dang, the director of a company specializing in personal and business branding in Da Nang, believes that working on TikTok should not be seen as a viable career choice to leave one's current stable job.
According to Dang, the platform is becoming increasingly difficult as more people join. TikTok currently doesn't pay for views; instead, customers pay.
As consumers become increasingly savvy and demanding of social media creators, and viewers become more discerning about content, all of this creates challenges for content creators and channel builders on social media platforms.
"Young people who decide to quit a stable job to build a social media channel need to think carefully about what they gain and what they lose. If you have a stable job, use building a channel to support and develop your career," Dang said.

Another expert advises that if you are truly serious about developing a social media channel, you should wait until the channel generates a steady income and sustains it for more than a year before quitting your main job.
"Think of working on TikTok as a side job; when you don't have financial reserves, it will affect your creative process," this expert said.
Building canals is easy, maintaining them is difficult.
Dao Duy Tai, the owner of the "Kitchen on the Hillside" canal, is one of the young people who chose to leave a stable job to return to their hometown and build the canal. He believes that behind the so-called trend of quitting office jobs to build canals, there are probably the traumas that young people have endured during their "stable" period.
Because no one wants to give up something good to pursue something they don't even know will be good or bad.
Anh Tài believes that creating a content channel can be easy, but "nurturing" and developing the channel requires not only time but also ideas, skills, passion, and funding.
"In a trend where many people are building channels, I believe that those who have enough love, dedication, perseverance, ideas, and thorough preparation will be able to go the distance, and vice versa. If you only start with the illusion of the glamour that content creation brings, you might be disillusioned and have no one to share your disappointment with," Tài said.
